Russian invasion of Ukraine

I just happen to think we are not the big catch that we once were and why would Putin come for us. We can’t nuke him back without asking the US, we do not need to start rearming and joining an EU army that’s ridiculous imo.
Tell you what mate, you are not alone……unfortunately there are quite a few cowardly bastards like you on this thread

We are not involved but I am more than happy to contribute some of my taxes to supply arms and help with intelligence like we are now.
Why though, can’t we now just be a peacemaker nation. Two world wars, the Iraq war, all too much for me. Let the warmongers give their taxes and children.

The consequences are too bad, we don’t need to align ourselves with anyone, why can’t we be like Sweden, Norway, Switzerland etc, why are we so eager to go head first into conflicts.
Sweden and Norway are both members of NATO as such were they invaded by Russia they would be defended.

I agree we've always been too keen to get involved in the US's misadventures in the middle east and Afghanistan.

I didn’t say he would come for us; my question was framed much wider than that. Let’s just say Russia takes Ukraine, a country of 40 million people - what do you think the impact would be in terms of millions of refugees upon the rest of Europe, including the UK? And what do you think the associated economic impact of that would be?

What impact do you think that would have on military stability in Europe? Do you think it would be greatly enhanced?

What do you think the impact of the above would have on public services in the UK, given what we would need to spend on the military if such an invasion succeeded? Would you be okay with spending on the NHS being reduced to respond to that?

The last part of your post seems to suggest that you think we can operate in isolation, but that simply isn’t possible in the world we inhabit today, brought into even sharper relief the point you made earlier in your post about us not being the big catch we once were, which is unquestionably correct.

Why can't we use nukes without asking the US? We are dependent on them for maintenance but you think we press a button then they get a pop up saying "UK wants to launch nuke, allow, yes / no" ?

Afghanistan was due to Article 5 and what a shit show it turned out to be infact I don't know why it was used against a terror organisation but everyone answered to the USAs call, Iraq was an absolute disgrace, the US got their information of WMDs by torturing someone who obviously said anything to make it stop.
Hope we let the phone ring out when Trump and Xi eventually butt heads and want to drag us into it.

Zelenskyy back in Number 10 at least with his dignity intact, unlike Trump and Vance the whole world watched the angry staged debacle. Let’s hope we can support Ukraine even more.

Update all the people cheering him outside a warm hug and inside a warm welcome.
