Plymouth Argyle (H) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

We should have 2 wingers on the same side. When Grealish trots off inside it leaves a big gap for the second winger to waltz into.

Gvardiol is very solid in what he does moving forward and gets amongst the goals. A pacey left back that can get into that space Grealish opens up from coming inside would be useful. Unfortunately after nearly four years at the club it looks like Grealish isn’t in Pep’s thinking anymore with the game time he gets.

I like Jack, always have, but I thought he was below average yesterday. What am I missing that others saw? To me he lacked penetration, when he got the ball he invariably tried to take it infield and his final ball was off.
Multiple people said he was our most dangerous player and creator. That may be true on reflection. But to me he just looks like a shadow of himself right now. I'm no body language expert but to me it looked like hes accepted it's over with pep and city

Safely into the hat and this is a competition we can genuinely win so we should be playing our strongest XI in it from here. Positives were Nico again showing up well and making a case for more minutes, and Reis looking like a John Stones (of 10 yrs ago) clone.

Comfortable enough though we made it harder than needed. That must've been the slowest City starting XI in years. Had we began the game with either Savinho or Doku, and a genuine striker, I'd wager it would've been much easier. However you don't get style points in the Cup and there's no goal difference either. We are still on the dance floor - home draw in the QF please.

I've been one of Grealish's biggest critics, but he should have come out of that game with at least two assists, which was down to poor finishing and good goalkeeping

Maybe a little bit tougher than expected but job done in the end. Plymouth weren't too bad at times, kept their shape and didn't lie down. A couple of our players could have done a bit better overall but can't really complain.

What people fail to see that whenever Jack gets the ball he always attracts 2-3 defenders so creating space for others. In truth he does not have the ability to take all of them so he drifts into midfield to make his passes. His work rate was good

Kev should have had an hatrick then if it was not for the keeper having 2 good saves.

Possibly the worse fan base I've ever seen today. Usually have a bit of respect for teams bringing that many fans but loads in town slagging shit hole Manchester off....it a massive dump( people who live in Plymouth saying this) / 115 / city spending millions / shit ground/emptyhad etc......then speaking to them and finding out they are actually mostly Liverpool and united supporters and there highest ever attendance is lower than çitehs attendance since back at Maine road when the capacity was 35k is quite frankly embarrassing and laughable. Always have chat back in town with the a few away fans and 9 times out of 10 I get a normal conversation but these pricks just thought they were the best at everything....which explained the United and Liverpool obsesseion
Hope they disappear back to where they belong.
Yeah a few were gobbing off as I walked to the ground..usual shit such as Manchester is a shit hole.. Manchester is red..I said to one of them I heard Plymouth hoe is your mum's nickname..**** wasn't happy but didn't do fuck all..bunch of wankers

Normal small club shite brainwashed by the media. That's why I have little time for other clubs or their fans. A few are alright here and there, Sunderland and I've had a good crack with Newcastle fans as well.

Bobbins first half much better 2nd.

Reis really impressive for a nipper. Confident and composed.

Pleased for O’Reilly two well taken goals and a solid performance.

Macatee is worrying. Doesn’t seem to have the head to make the step up which is a shame as he’s a delightful technician.
Mcatee, Foden and Bernado were poor, Gundogan and De Bruyne can no longer perform at the top level.

Impressed with Reis very solid and a good header of the ball, Grealish, O'Reilly, Lewis and Ake did OK.

Another injury to Ake looks like he might be put with Stones and Walker for an early exit.

We responded well to going a goal down to Plymouth, and we didnt panic ... Liverpool had gone a goal down to them, and hadn't responded enough to make a difference!

The City subs did make a difference, as did our resilience to keep plugging away at their well drilled defence, and, as ever, 'quality balls' into the box eventually won the day ..... especially for our first and thirds goals.

Yeah agreed. He tried an audacious lob last night, also a backheel and spin move that if it had come off would have been amazing. But yeah, he scored a hatrick, getting included in the team more regularly, he shoould be kicking on and making his place in the team imo.
