I don’t see any point in a new deal. He’s not gonna move into coaching at city so will ensure up getting mins that a younger player would usually get. I’ve seen nothing of him in the dressing room that shouts he’s a back room leader. Very quiet and introverted most of the time.

We can’t be paying £150k+ a week wages for a ‘leader in the dressing room’ to come off the bench every now and then.

Painfully obvious he can’t run anymore, his legs don’t work like they used to, you can see it in how he turns, shapes up and tries to push forward. Even against Plymouth you can see his hesitancy as he knows he can’t do certain things anymore.

Wild move from the club, just as wild as triggering Gundo’s extension.

I love them both so much, especially the King, but we need to move on.

Kompany knew to leave when he was on top, so did David and Kun. These two need to do the same.

Surely we can’t give him a new contract just out of loyalty?

Most I agree with, but Aguero definitely wanted to stay but wasn't offered the multi-year contract he felt he deserved

And that’s exactly why we’ve had the season we’ve had.
It isn’t we’ve had the season we’ve had because we didn't have the adequate back up to Rodri, KDB , Bernardo. IF KDB stays he will be the back up as will Bernardo if he stays.

Think if we do this and I'm in 2 minds,it makes bringing in another 10 /AM quite unlikely,
I think we’ll still try regardless
Lots of stuff being spouted about our interest in Wirtz for this summer, they aren’t just going to stop trying because KDB signs an extension.

the possible extension shows us that some people don’t really wanna rebuild. Makes no sense to keep Bernardo, KDB and Gundo. Any other club would move 2/3 at least. Pep doesn’t wanna let them go. Will make it harder for the new coach in 2 years time.
Guess we won’t go for a 10 then. Wouldn’t surprise me if Grealish stays too at this point.

Maybe a full preseason will do him some good. He looked good at the beginning of the season and he’s always slow to regain his best form. Honestly, I’m torn about this.

Bit of an overreaction this. January has shown you the intent of the club.

To be honest they’ve handed out stupid contracts so the players are well within their rights to stay regardless. They’ll probably have to have a bloated squad for a year and suck it up

Course it is. Bringing Gundo back, Walker should have gone too. De Bruyne is clearly done, the fact he didnt play against Madrid and Newcastle says Peps thinks so too. He can’t do more than 60 mins, what’s another year going to be like. Can’t believe some fans want to keep making the same mistake. Kova, Gundo, KDB, Grealish, Stones and Ake should all go IMO.

If he stays, I think he knows his role will be much like Gundo’s was envisaged this season.

He knows he’s not going to be the first name on the team sheet, and that if he starts, he’s probably only getting 60-70 mins.

However, if he can stay fit, I think he can be an excellent transition player by helping out on the field, and in the dressing room, as an example to the younger professionals.

He still has much to give and if he will relieve some of the financial burden to allow City to free up funds, then it may well be a great solution for all concerned.

Yep,it’s madness. At least 4 of the above mentioned should be moved on. I’m not quite sure what the thinking behind keeping them is.

They should but they all have contracts the club have given them. We can’t force them out the door as much as we might want some to leave.

If I’m John Stones on £250k a week, I’m not budging until my contract is over for less money at a club elsewhere. We’ll have a similar situation with all the players that have a year remaining.

As frustrating as it is

Makes squad numbers tricky though if he stays. Who will go?
Phillips, Walker , then after that depends who is willing to leave at a guess, Nunes, Grealish, Kovacic, Ederson. That leaves one homegrown space in midfield and space for a keeper and space for a full back.
Suppose KDB and Gundogan may agree to step down from the CL squad to make a little room it’s not a given though.
