Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

How the fuck do you play with pain and a fractured bone in the foot ? Ake said it's been bothering him for months ??
It's those daft boots that they wear, NO protection but look good
 
Serious lack of professionalism from the club, we handled players injuries as well as our summer transfer window

I assume it was a stress fracture? As the treatment for those is usually just rest. Obviously a football game is not “rest” but you normally have a lot more mobility with a stress fracture. I know everyone is medical expert when these things happen, but a friends daughter played a high school (we’re in the US) season with a stress fracture in her leg. In their case, they didn’t know, but it’s obviously a different type of pain than a traditional fracture.

If she knew about the injury would she still play on ? Ake said he knew for months and I bet it was painkillers injections that got him back on the pitch, But like I said the boots they wear are shocking and offer no protection at all, My grandson got the very bright pink ones and I was shocked at how thin and bendy they are,

It's crazy to think players worth millions want to wear shit boots

Would she have played on it? No. But could she? Yes. And with out painkillers. Obviously none of us know the actual diagnosis, but I don’t think Pep or the club is fully to blame for this one. It just feels like this is something that happens all the time in professional sports (Mostly because with certain type of stress fractures there is obviously some gray area). Is it right? No. But I truly believe the club wouldn’t maliciously ruin an “asset” on purpose.

I don't think anyone wants to play with shit boots, however they want maximum feel in how they kick a ball as well as protection from injury, there is always a compromise between the two.

He was limping badly for the last 5min of the first half, could see immediately he wasn’t coming back out
All the CBs have been playing while injured and through the pain barrier since day one, to varying extents, and so I don’t think we can judge them too harshly.
It’s been a cursed season but the summer is time to reassess how we managed it and more importantly, which of them can be relied on in future
Need Ruben to stay fit now - he should concentrate more on channeling Mike Doyle than funnelling Maya Jama

The ones the players wear cost about 300 quid and have carbon fibre woven in them. There was a point about 10 15 years ago where players were getting lots of metatarsal injuries but they have solved that. The cheaper versions are still made from a flimsy synthetic material so if you don't want to break the bank I'd get some leather boots for your kid at least, can't beat a pair of good old Copas.

Copas are well over 100 quid these days. The price of footy boots these days are just extortionate and 100+ for an average pair of boots is the norm now.

This rest gives him the chance to rest and rehabilitate. He is a quality player, and he will recover and then he will be back in contention. I do worry about his long term fitness and that of players like Stone but it's better to support them.

Go to the Adidas factory at Pear Mill, cheap in there, especially if you go for styles that are a couple seasons old.
