President Trump

I think with our language differences etc it's easy to forget how much as Europeans we have in common compared to the rest of the world. The values that we are now talking about defending were forged within our continent. Europe is the home of the Renaissance, The Scientific Revolution, the Age of Enlightenment and the Industrial revolution all of which have indelibly shaped us as Europeans irrespective of our nationalities. Our 20th Century history left us battered and scarred and arguably lacking confidence; certainly in the UK in the latter part of the 20th Century we got sucked into an American led trajectory that has left too many people behind and arguably sowed the seeds that have led to this moment. American leadership of what we like to call 'the free world' appears to have failed us, so what happens now?

The nations of the EU and the UK together are home to over half a billion people with a rich history and an incredible breadth of talent. In many ways our diversity is our strength. But it also becomes our Achilles heel when we let division take hold. So far the politicians are doing a reasonable job of presenting a united front. If, and it's a bloody big if, as things become more challenging we can maintain unity across the majority of Europe and speak with one voice and act in concert we will be ok and eventually better days will come. We Europeans are like a squabbling family and if ever there was a time to put those, in the scheme of things, petty squabbles to one side it is now. As electorates we have our part to play too, this is going to get worse before it gets better and there will be plenty of opportunists come along with quick fixes, easy answers and seemingly ways to avoid the pain; many of these will be either deliberately or unwittingly doing Russia's bidding as part of its hybrid war. We need to avoid being seduced by these charlatans and not forget the hard learnt lessons of our recent past.
Take a bow

Looks like Zelensky has called his bluff this Afternoon so let's see now, he's got his apology (lol) and his thanks (lol).

I can see why he's done this, but it's regrettable. What it should not do is halt the european momentum towards taking ownership of our own security, however painful that may be in the short term. America has shown it cannot be trusted, we mustn't get fooled again

You know what I’m not bothered now if Zelensky apologises or grovels everyone in the world knows what went on, if he does it to help his country he is far the bugger man as he is anyway. History will judge Trump Vance Putin in the same way, Zelensky is on a different level and I hope he is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize when this is all over and not that fat orange prick.

I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.

We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence, and we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this.

Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive.

President Zelensky

Jesus christ. You know the world is messed up when Nigel Farage is under attack from the radical socialists who are now supporting Trump. Whatever next? Gaza aside, would Corbyn now endorse Trump?

It's amazing that as Vice President of a country with so little history, JD Vance can't remember one important bit of it only 25 years ago when the UK and NATO answered the US call for help.

Hard to believe that they could find a man more stupid and ignorant than Trump to help run the US but somehow they did.

I don't know if it's that stupid, most of the current iteration of republican representatives have mayonnaise for brains.

President Zelensky's statements are interesting.

Here is Clay Travis' take on what is going on.

“Hard truth: the United States totally fucked Ukraine and Russia and actually caused this war,” Travis said. “We promised Russia NATO wouldn’t expand to their borders — we lied & we told Ukraine if they gave up their nuclear weapons we would defend them if Russia invaded — we lied again."

“The real bad guy here is our country. And Trump has been left to clean up this total mess he had nothing to do with causing.”

As a political commentator, he and Buck Sexton host The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, a three-hour weekday conservative talk show which debuted on June 21, 2021 as the replacement of The Rush Limbaugh Show on many radio stations.

Right or wrong, millions of Americans will be hearing variations of this on the radio, right now.

Trumps started a chain reaction and will lose in the end. The combined counter measures of Canada, China, Mexico and Europe will make the US economy collapse.

Isn’t that why they are saving as much money as possible , federal cuts, pull out of NATO etc, saving billions in other ways
