Nottingham Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The old ones have not only lost their legs but also the winning mentality and desire
Not convinced all of the younger ones have it either
In pretty much any big game against decent opposition this season, or involving the slightest bit of pressure or consequence, we’ve generally wilted or collapsed.
Even cack like Orient and Plymouth were beating us
We can all laugh at arsenal, but the brutal truth is that we have been the biggest bottle jobs of the entire season

We haven't really bottled anything have we?
Until all the injuries hit us we were top.of the league. The Rodri injury with no obvious replacement ripped the heart out of the side. We then lost almost all our defensive players. Then the tremendous efforts of the last four seasons caught up with an ageing team. It's been a perfect storm which has cost us dearly.

Just zero goal threat in the team bar Haaland who we never find.
Wingers offer us absolute nothing, no end product or goals between them, no goals from midfield as Foden seems to have given up since his POTS.
Most worrying for me is what looks like a severe weakness in our coaching staff. We have lost quite a few assistants over the years and Pep used to be able to take a player, and hugely improve them but in all honesty who can you say has improved in the last few seasons. Haaland is not the same player he was in his first season, movement esp in getting in front of a defender seems to have vanished, Doku has not improved his final ball and our finishing and set pieces are criminal.
Yet another game where our opponents get more shots on target than us with a lot less attempts.

simple?
Eddy wasn’t the ready we lost.
He was the reason we weren’t already 1 down
I’m not his biggest fan as a shot stopper but he isn’t to blame today.
It should have been stopped mate. He did make a great save, which doesn’t happen often enough from him, but it was a pathetic attempt at his near post to stop that.

The result wasn’t on him but he was as guilty as the rest of them

Pissing myself at the wums, rags and city mardarses posting in this thread.
Honestly it's social media at it's very best.

Bravo the lot of yous.
You ok with that performance then ?
Yes we have wons loads more than I could ever imagine
And I will be forever grateful
But when a performance is bobbins as that was surely you have call out it’s shortcomings

Fernandinho will sort that out.

Last season's run in to win 4 in row has cost us this season along with a few ill timed season ending injuries this time around.

9 losses already in the PL, that's the same as Pep's first season if I'm not wrong. 23 points behind Liverpool as it stands. !

However much you want to make the next set of fixtures seem as hard as possible, we’re playing weaker teams than we’ve just played.

We might not have done well against them earlier in the season, but that was then and this is now.

We’re much better than we were in December, but miles off where we were.
i'm not trying to make the next set of fixtures seem as hard as possible, i'm just pointing out that we haven't won any of the reverse fixtures and iv'e seen nothing to suggest we're going to suddenly turn our form around no matter how much you think they are easier fixtures, i'd absolutely love us to win em all

I think a few of the old guard need to be pushed out, no disrespect but even if we sign a new midfielder or new defenders, I think Peps loyalty to the old guard will make him play the old / his players over the new incomings.

I might be wrong but I don’t think Pep has had to say goodbye to a group of players that have served him so well and won loads of trophies. Peps normally the one the leave before that has to happen at Bayern and Barca. Even if we get Wirtz I think Peps loyalty to the group he’s coached for years would make him choose them.

15 losses in our last 30 games , I doubt it will change for the remainder of the season.

The league is bang average this season despite 3 clubs looking like making the last 8 in the Chumps League.
Surely that’s not as bad as 9 losses in 13, with only 1 win?

Yes, we’ve been that bad. Are we now meant to go to 3rd in the league and walk it?

Not aimed at you, just the premise that we’re at a point to forget everything that has gone before.

Personally, I think that the league has been the strongest it has been, just that we’ve had so many issues with players, after challenging years where we’ve overcome, there was very little chance of being at outperform best this season.

Onwards and upwards, as they say.

I agree, another superb performance and he didn’t deserve to be on the losing side …. unlike several of his teammates.
Every other player bar him and maybe Haaland are putting in stinking performances week in week out and yet nothing changes

Gvardiol much more to blame and again like all season showing what a complete liability he is defensively giving the winger the freedom of Nottingham not even get close to stopping his shot.

I’d say amateur defending but that’s being an bit unkind to Sunday league level players. It’s beyond a fucking joke how that happens at this level.

Yeah, you've described a pretty decent defensive performance for most of the game! considering those two things happened after the 70th minute.. wouldnt you say the opponent not entering our box for 70 minute is decent defending?
No, not at all.

We had to win today whereas they were happy not to lose.

Parts of the game we were up to 70% possession but didn't trouble their keeper once.

What defending did we have to do, they were happy to watch us piss about going nowhere.

One of the worst performances of the season that today, and that's after a precious week off.

For the umpteenth millionth time, NOTHING changes whilst Guardiola remains. Just eventually you happy clappers may just get it; this thing has run its course.

City struggle like hell against Low Block defences. I’m not sure what the answer is. Go all out for first 20 minutes, score first and invite opposition onto us so we can reverse the low block situation.
I love Khusanov. I kept my eye on him. He is some player already. Riise in the previous game looked like a John Stones clone. Nico is settling in nicely and will improve. Mamoush needs games and should play alongside The Viking, especially against low block defences.
Echeverri is in the squad and I can’t wait to see him in action. Oh and there is also Osca Bobb back in the squad now.
Rodri very close to full training and a chance to start his comeback soon.
Oh Shit I’m sorry I must be in the wrong forum. I thought I was in the positive thread, not the negative suicidal thread. My bad.

He is an absolutely shit full back. At least one error in him every single game. Why he gets lauded on here I don’t know.

Miles off what we were 18 months ago....we'd still be losing if we were still playing now.

Absolutely nothing up top, the amount of times we had 3/4 players in eachothers way on the edge of their area.

It works but it would be nice if a team near the top and at home didn't help us strangle the game.

Missed out on decent sunbeds at our hotel too watching that crap. We need a prime David Silva, Yaya to pull us up and create something.

Says it all that Lewis who has really struggled since the first few games was in our top 3 performers.

We’ve got old. We need a squad refresh. That’s begun, but we cant do anything else before the summer.

We’re going to lose some of the games between now and the end of the season. It’s probably best to make peace with that.

What I won’t say though is that they’ve given up. They’re struggling physically, not because of effort, it’s just lack of mobility and it shows how much Rodri did for us.
Agree, I don't think it's lack of effort, they just aren't capable of the high levels required anymore. I don't think they lack desire either, they still want to win but they are hampered by age, injuries and out tactics.
It's going to take a few seasons before we replace all those we want too. We took our eye off the ball a bit, it should have started a couple of seasons ago.

He’ll get moved on if he does
