Nottingham Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I like everyone else was disappointed in Saturdays result but think we need to put things into perspective.
This team and manager have ran through walls over the past four years to get the trophy’s we have.
The mental and physical fatigue has caught up.
No other team has had to play the amount of games we have and I think this goes someway to explaining the amount of injuries we’ve suffered.
I’m not blind and realise that Peps tactics are not destroying teams like they once were and Nunez/Grealish situations are just baffling.
I am more than happy to accept one average season, because let’s be honest we’ve been through a lot worse.
However I have complete faith in Pep and these players, plus a few summer signings to get it right.
I suppose all I’m trying to say blues is onwards and upwards, we will not be this bad for long.
Well said. We have also been very spoilt over the last few years, the last few seasons have led us to expect to win every week (rightly or wrongly) but its not quite there this season. In respect to "average" season (not having a pop at you), I suppose it is for us, but for 99% of teams its a great season, lets stay a little humble and not get all Raggy with an expectation of always winning everything.

Haha completely accept your right about the average. I just couldn’t put good or bad so went with average.
I should have put indifferent by our standards.

The bar for individual and team performances has been set at an incredibly high level for from the 100 points season through to the treble year. Think we dropped a little last season but still delivered another title which shows just how good the levels had been. No team previously in the PL had hit those levels of performance. Getting back to that level is a huge challenge and will require significant investment with few mistakes. It will also require some patience as those younger players develop (Khusanov, Bobb and Gvardiol I think will be huge for us). Biggest challenge will be rebuilding that midfield engine and adding some creativity to go along with the control.

Sadly we have no creativity in the midfield, nobody seems able to make a killer pass.
I could say something stupid like give some of the younger ones a run in midfield but Pep won’t entertain this. He turns to the same old players with unfortunately the same old players response.

The player who can make the killer pass is sat on the bench most games. Ironically his only league game in the centre of midfield was when we beat Forest 3-0 in December.

Throw in the injuries to our defenders and the defensive and GK cock ups, and the end result is what's happening now and going back to early Nov. We've not built any winning momentum at any point in that period.

He was also really really bad when he played there v Juventus in the Champions League. Maybe he should stay off the ale for a few weeks if he wants to a play some meaningful football?

We played risk averse football again. Away from home, try to control the game, the stuff that teams are used to. And when we play at a snails pace, good defences, like forest, lap it up.
It's 1 step forward 2 steps back all year.

Pep rolled the dice and made really attacking subs, that stopped the game from petering out to a 0-0 and a decent point, to end up costing us the game.

Was it a risk worth taking? If Josko, who is still young, wasn’t right tight enough to the attacker and if Ederson didn’t have poppadum hands for the shot. We’d have taken a point. Pep can’t really do much about that.

Pep has 18 months MAX left.

I hope Khaldoon has his hand in a magic hat !!

Is he not pissed
This is a short career Jack, don't have any any regrets when its all over. There's plenty of time to go out on the beer and have fun afterwards. With talent like yours you should be one of the first on the team sheet.

So Forest, after years of mediocrity since Clough left are having a half decent season. Most fans, including myself, were pleased to see this. That is until wankers like this started posting the usual City bingo shite after they've had a rare narrow victory over us. It's a shame because it just makes me hate every club now. They're the enemy so fuck them!

Let them win their battles.

City win wars.

....and largely the same performances and results.

The rebuild, refit and refresh needs to be decisive, NO second bests.

Bernardo has lost his mojo. Previous years he used to run past van dijk like he was a minor league defender. But now he has no dribbling skills, No goals. Assist, he was not particularly good in that even before. Yes he runs a lot. He does that even now. But as a team leader he needs to deliver more. So does foden.
Previous years we used to have flair of Debruyne, Bernardo, foedn, Grealish and Gundo. This year no one are good enough. I fear we will not find some players with flair even in next transfer window. It seems MCatee is not good enough for us.
With the exception of Phil, none of the other players have futures as regular first team starters.

Kev may be worth keeping as a domestic cup player and Gundo in a coaching role in CFG.

Best market fees for Bernardo & Jack, loan + sell on or buy back for McAtee.

Negotiate hard City, we'll need as much as we can muster for the newbies !!

Personally, I'd like to see clubs like Forest, Bournemouth, Brighton etc stand a real chance of winning trophies. As this chap will find out shortly, in 6 months' time any decent players they have will be playing for liverpool, arse or united and they'll be back to square one. He's so used to football serfdom, he'll probably welcome it.
