It could become a liz truss situation. But we have a good mechanism for removing an idiot head of government. The US does not have the same.

So they will stand for it until November 2028.

I don't think he is.

What are they gonna do?

They VOTED for him.

They VOTED for this, and all that comes with it.

They can't turn to the Cabinet or lobby their congresspeople and senators, because all of them have to move lockstep with him or risk expulsion from the party and its money and mechanics, and most of the inner circle agree with him anyhow. He's made sure of that.

I thought the natural successor as leader of the Democrats was Gavin Newsom?? All the more so with Trump almost immediately calling him Newscum as the wildfires were ripping through LA…I thought, at the time, that Trump was getting his shots in early for the 2028 election. Also, here’s hoping the Dems get their act together to take over the House and Senate in the mid-terms…watched Smerconish at the weekend and he is right that at the moment the Dems have no answer to Media savvy Trump. They need a leader and momentum quickly to take advantage of Trump and his acolytes’ fuck-ups…oh, and incidentally, the name that came up as possibly the best option was Fetterman…

Now Trump’s ilk arresting a legal U.S. resident and threatening to deport him, sending him to an immigration detention center in Louisiana. I am sure there is more to both sides of this story but this is troubling — and wholly unsurprising — on its face.
