Cundy and O’Hara have declared the season one of the worst for quality. I can imagine that would have really pissed the dippers off, as what they really mean is because the league is effectively won in March.

Think Slot will turn out to be another Pellegrini personally, but time will tell.

Pellegrini came into a team that was already built to succeed and he gave them the freedom to play the kind of football they'd wanted to - but hadn't been allowed to - under Mancini. It was all gravy for the first 12-18 months, winning the title and League Cup. Things started going wrong when he had to start building his own team, away from Mancini's squad, either due to age or injuries/fitness.

Basically replaced Yaya with Lampard. Replaced Dzeko with Bony. Kompany's injuries meant we went and bought Mangala. Replaced Richards with Sagna, Pantilimon with Caballero, Barry with Fernando. Replaced Milner with Delph. Spent £12m on Patrick Roberts. So many bad signings came during that Pellegrini era.

It'll be very, very interesting to see if Liverpool can keep Salah and Van Dijk beyond the summer. Salah has contributed to an insane amount of goals this season and if they can't keep him it's hard to see where those goals are going to come from. Same too with Van Dijk going, just in terms of keeping them out at the other end. What Salah and Van Dijk have is the kind of presence you can't buy and I'm curious to see how Slot copes.

Yep, not taking anything away from slot and the dippers winning it this season. But even slot has stated he has been surprised at the fall off by ourselves.

Yes they will deserve it as they have been the most consistent team this season, but they have had zero pressure on them to win it. Not one team has been able to sustain a challenge and it has been basically a walk in the park for them.

Like some have also mentioned, slot will be judged when he is under pressure, and when he has to bring in his own players..as currently this is not his team. Its still the gurning germans

No manager comes in and makes things work in the first season unless by luck. And luck, luck luck is whaat II seeing this year. From no injuries to refs decisions. I cant wait for Pep to go up against them next year when oour squad is soorted.
Do you really think our squad will be sorted that quickly ?
We're gonna need the best transfer window ever

Imo we've bought and are getting up to speed on the new guys. Marmoush, Reis, Gonzales, etc are proving to be very good replacements. I dont think we will be buying lots more players tbh.
Fair comment, still early days obviously but i'd hazard a guess we won't reach the standard of previous Pep sides with those three.

After all the other comments on here I found this perhaps the most interesting.
I also think that it is this comment that in fact shows City and all that you have achieved in the best light, as it shows that for most of your titles you have earned them through being pushed. It beign a case that the best teams do thrive under pressure and it demonstrates their all round class/strength.
Whilst our win a few years back was good and spoiled by covid, I do think we were good value for it. The same with this year if we see it through. Whilst we havent been pushed hard by anyone, it is hoped that the quality of the team will be shown by a 90+ points total. Although that cannot be taken for granted.
But the fact that we have pushed you so hard in a couple of years, the fact it went down to the last day does make those wins mean more, as it was down to strength of character aswell. It made for exciting and tense games and finishes, but was perhaps better for that.
Forget all the media bullshit about Liverpool this year, it will be down to whether we can repeat this years form next year even if there are big changes to the playing staff as seems likely, the test will really come if we are able to do it when pressured.
It’s a good post , I don’t give a shite whether I’m slagged off for it , despite our very recent rivalries , you’re a bigger club than stretford rangers , they’re the spice girls and you’re led zeppelin, the Manchester rivalry goes back way before football - it’s called the Manchester ship canal.
City have done a fantastic job of ruining United -and we have , and that’s all I personally care about , had some great tussles v you lot over the past 5/6 seasons.
Manc/Scouse rivalry will always live on.
Our hate for United is 1000 times more than you lot , and take it from me , for decades before our success we’ve wanted your lot to beat them every single time , funny how things turn isn’t it !

Cheeks of the same arse they can both fuck off.

Season crumbling. Quad and the treble go to bottom of the championship and now a treble goes to the competitions perennial bottlers who scraped through the groups on the last game. If Newcastle create a miracle this weekend, their season will be a damp squib despite a league title.
