Juma Bah

Van Dijk was two years off making his debut... for Groningen.

People are mad trying to draw conclusions at this age.
When our Jason Denayer (19) was on loan at Celtic he partnered VDV (22) for a season. I was working with a Celtic ST holder at that time, and he went to every Celtic game at home and tons away. He always insisted Denayer was the dominant partner, far superior to VD and would probably be our captain for a decade, essentially Vinny v2.0. When he was younger he'd played to a fairly high amateur level and seemed to know his onions, but it illustrates perfectly how hard it is to tell if anyone is truly elite. Btw Think Denayer was ok, capped by Belgium 35 times, now 29 and in Saudi.

He looked a very classy player at that time.

He never got a chance.

I watched a lot of Celtic when the two were the CB partnership and your workmate was right. Denayer was the classier looking footballer. If I had had to pick one of them to reach the elite level it would have been Jason not VVD. Just goes to show.

soft spot for Denayer, he was always my go to cheap CB in football manager for a few seasons. lynchpin and captain of a few sides that powered through the leagues.

By the time VD started his first full season for the dips he was 27, so over 8 years after his pro debut !. You just can't judge when players become 'cat A' elite. Thankfully him and Salah will be gone for good in a year or two \o/...

He’s like an anomaly at centre back like Khusanov is. Bah is tall , fast and strong but has very good awareness and technical ability. A lot of accounts that scout young players were saying he was the best out of the lot we signed potential wise.

He came from a club that seemingly doesn’t exist and played half a season on loan. How do these accounts know anything about his potential haha!

Does look like he reads the game very well on top of all of his obvious traits

Ah Valladolid ok. Looks like he's finally broken into the Lens team now so hopefully will become a regular for the rest of the season.
Indeed, 90m against Marseille. He only joined Lens in February! Oh, and he is also just 18!

His size, commitment and physicality remind me more of Rudiger, who's also done alright in his career.

At the age Bah is, Rudiger hadn't yet made a first team appearance at Stuttgart.

Has played the full 90 in 3 of the last four matches for Lens (one match injured), and was MOM in the last game. His reputation in France is building.

If he's half as good as the hype he'll be off to Chelsea, no doubt for a 'very reasonable' £35m fee. The profit could then be used to pay off Kalvin's contract, awesome..
