It's mind-blowing that there's even a discussion on whether the SCOTUS will need an individual Justice to tip to the side of upholding the rule of law, but that does seem to be where we are.
 
All those greens that voted for Comrade Jill Stein must be loving the latest EPA regulation changes.

Did you ask him why he thought that voting for Trump was a mistake? I mean Orange Dude is doing exactly what he said he'd do - if this comes as a surprise to single white guy - he's a fucking idiot.

I don’t remember him saying he would support Putin at the UN or that he would attack Danish sovereignty, or that he would criminalise DoJ lawyers for doing their allocated job or a million other things.
The chaos was perhaps predictable but that is quite different from a campaign promise.

Two things:
1) Single white guy likely doesn't give a shit about Putin, Danish sovereignty or the jailing of DOJ lawyers (he voted for Trump after all);
2) Single white guy is a "macro credit strategy book at a hedge fund" manager; thus it's likely that his gripe with Trump is about all the tariff bullshit currently ongoing... and Trump 100% said he'd impose tariffs.

Even if I'm wrong about single white guy's voting remorse, my premise remains - Trump promised to do most of the shit he's now doing and as for the rest, promise or no, there were numerous ample warnings that Trump would proceed in this direction. And as a "macro credit strategy book at a hedge fund" manager, single white guy is likely way above average intelligence and education - presumably able to draw valid inferences on future outcomes based on previous events.

So I conclude - single white guy is a fucking kool-aid drinker, and now that the poison begins to seep in, belatedly regrets his choice of beverage. Idiot!

The word idiot can apply contextually - to individuals in spite of extremely high intelligence - when they act illogically, out of all reason, in certain specific instances. Moreover, the term "idiot" is a derogatory expression of disdain.

So yeah, single white guy is a fucking idiot.

And, as an aside, how certain are you that point 1 in my post isn't spot on?

I guess I’m not certain but those aspects didn’t come up save for the possible change in spreads based on the things Trump was trying to do.

I’ll note too that he was pretty upfront that he messed up. He realizes he screwed up. That’s better than grimly defending his decision despite all of the evidence.

If Trump drops dead and Vance gets in for a few years can he then run for two terms or is he limited to just one as already been in power?

Can’t see Vance getting re-elected. Trump is a master manipulator, but I would say that at least 70% of Americans hate Vance. Much more likely that Barron will be heard from more and more in the coming years to carry on the dynasty…

The White House has withdrawn US President Donald Trump's nomination of former Florida representative Dr David Weldon to head the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as announced by the Republican-controlled Senate health committee on Thursday.

Elsewhere on Capitol Hill Thursday, Trump’s FDA picks for FDA commissioner, Marty Makary, and NIH director, Jay Bhattacharya, cleared the Senate health committee, teeing up a vote by the full Senate. I know people have been trying to blame Trump as the proximate cause of several cases of measles breaking out in the U.S..

The number of measles cases in the European region doubled last year to reach the highest level in 25 years, health officials say.

A joint report by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN children's fund, Unicef, said children under the age of five accounted for more than 40% of the cases reported in Europe and central Asia.

The WHO/Unicef joint analysis covering 53 countries said there had been 127,350 measles cases reported in the European region in 2024 - the highest since 1997.

Estimates from 2023 show that only four countries - Hungary, Malta, Portugal and Slovakia - had met the 95% threshold for vaccination to prevent an outbreak, the ECDC said on Tuesday.

Concern has been expressed in the UK, too, over the spread of the disease, as vaccination rates for two doses have fallen below 90%.
