Humans, a really shit species

Bur we don't remember anything about the "greatest starvation in human history". No such thing.
20-40million?wtf?
The famine in Henan province in 1942 resulted in the death of 3 million people, which is already a very tragic and profound historical memory. How could a famine causing the death of 30 million people occur without leaving any memory?
"No such thing as the greatest starvation in human history " Google is your friend. There are many accounts of it to research. I agree the numbers are staggering and hard to accept but it did happen.

Do you realize there is a lot anti_china propaganda? The propaganda is so ridiculous that it makes Chinese people more supportive of their government? You know those things, religion oppression? social credit score? uyghur genocide? ethnic oppression? What do you think Chinese people will feel when they see all the ridiculous propaganda?
"oh, google is our friend?", Sorry, Google is our enemy.

The human race is one of, if not THE most wonderful and special entity in the universe.
We might be the only example of true consciousnesses in it.

Those who call us parasites/virus/ etc don't get what the gift of consciousness actually is or what it means.
Genesis, is a good starting point for an education.

I say "gift", those championing the OP would only see it as a curse.

Consciousness demands we behave like we do. We are only young, we have much to learn.
Like the child who outlives the womb it came from, so we must learn to outlive our birthplace because earth will not remain habitable to us forever (Regardless of our unconscious effects on it).

We HAVE to expand our horizons. Consciousness drives us to a higher place and forces us to pay the sometimes heavy costs.

The old farts and liberals who share and sponsor the opinion of the OP likely have nothing to fear from the future of the human race because they are nearing their input on it. For the following generations, that attitude, one that is reductive, contractive, is a disaster. We absolutely must look to grow and develop at ANY costs.
There are arguments that we are in a special moment, that we have to "use" the planet MORE than we are doing now. It is a philosophy that thinks that the human race must grow and develop as rapidly as it can, to reach a point where reliance on the finite resources are no longer crucial because we will have figured out how to overcome that problem.

Yes, we have SS guards, nuclear weapons, murderers, etc, but those are not the norm, we have people who give their lives to the betterment of others (Literaly millions of them in WWII), we have heroes on our doorsteps.

We have managed to massively reduce hunger, poverty, war in the recent past to an incredible degree and we will continue to improve the lives of our species at a rate never seen before in history.

So say we are a virus or a parasite is an insult to everyone of us and a marker of the wit of those who say such things.

We are as close to God as anything in the universe can be.

We are wonderful.

I would say that indigenous humans like Red Indians or Maori or African natives were unique in that they destroyed nothing, everything they used was naturally replenished. Maybe they were the wonderful ones.
It's the white man and his quest for riches that started the destruction of the planet, the insatiable lust for oil and minerals to manufacture shit we don't need, it's pure greed, at any cost.

Ah yes.
These would be the Red Indians who's development and advancement was basically stuck at prehistoric levels?

So we should all be like them then?
You would be wishing disease, illness, murder, servitude, slavery, pestilence, starvation, hunger etc on the entire human species then.
Every one of us to ever be stuck in a world of misery.
You wouldn't last 5 minutes in a genuine Native Indian environment.

And, you wouldn't stop population grow either (Quite the opposite), we would just be 8 billion people living short, miserable lives.
Think of 8 billion of us, all living like the shittest parts of the 3rd world, the slums in India, etc.

You want that for everyone? You are a monster.

Interesting,
In what context?

We in the west like to denigrate what we do (Well certain people do) makes me wonder what other people around the world do in their spare time.

Instead of focusing on our achievements we like to nod at each other explaining how bad we are.

Its not the entire species, just a small subset within it that are driven by excessive greed and power.

if it was just a small subset of people who are cunts then they wouldn't prosper. Until people realise they themselves are also the virus we will continue to spread.

Trouble with humans is the are just a different species of animal and deep down we have all those instincts, so whilst a lion expands its area to feed and have territory, humans do exactly the same thing, unfortunately this usually involves taking someone else’s food and territory. A few individuals in this world cause the problem for 8 billion, but you replace them and another few individuals will replace them just like the animal kingdom. We may be self aware but deep down we still have the same animal instincts fight or flight, but more dangerously the ability to think doesnt make you more intelligent, it’s what you do with it, sadly unless something literally out of this world happens we will self destruct and now we have the power to end all life.

Man has already as good as killed the planet. People just haven't woken up to it yet.

There's still a chance to save the planet for a few more generations of the human race, but not while the population continues to rise at its current rate.

There are quite simply too many people on the planet... probably at least 3 billion too many.

Looking at the damage that humans have done to Earth, I can only say that humans, as a species, no longer deserve to exist.

Utter nonsense.

A bit daft.

This planet has an expiration date, frogs and bears arent traversing space or at least unlocking the secrets behind it.

This societywide negativity is toxic.

Everything has an expiration date. The point here is that humans are the only species on this planet that knowingly, and continues intentionally to, contribute to accelerate towards that expiration.

Rampant 'progress' following the industrial revolution, and failure to restrict population growth, has put a planet that has developed over millions and millions of years on the brink of extinction within two centuries.

Humans are dumb.

Personally, I don't believe in complex extraterrestrial life so I think we're all the universe has.

I believe in respecting the species around us, I don't eat meat, but I don't see any other species taking up our mantle of discovering the secrets of the universe and hopefully exploring it.

You're right in the sense that many will never contribute to something higher other than consumption, but maybe you're angry at everyone when you wouldn't be angry at a group who sought out to conquer science and reverse this process.

What's the point of life itself if all the life in the universe doesn't even know it's looking at itself in a mirror? Facing oblivion without even knowing it.

Ask yourself the question, is it the average person who decides the best way operate a plane is using aviation fuel rather than investing in green solutions. Or ordinary people who flout environmental laws when extracting minerals because the cost of cleaning it up reduces profit margins. Does one ordinary person happily go to war (Rambo excluded) or is it those with power and money that force them to ?

The fundamental need of people is food, shelter and security, by controlling or preventing any one of these, you control the population and force them to do things they otherwise would not want to do.

What those with wealth and power have done is create an artificial and unnecessary survival of the fittest, driven by greed.
