When we start to pass with some pace we actually look threatening. Feels like half if then don't have a clue what the plan is, cb passing to gk from a goal kick then hoofing is not the answer

You do have to wonder how much work we do on our defensive shape and indeed the individual performances of our defenders.

The way Khusanov has come in and immediately look head and shoulders our best and most natural defender, for all his obvious talent, reflects very poorly on our coaching team.
He’s doing okay but still has much to improve, which rather underlines your point.
Often looks as if they’ve only learned who was playing at noon and that hasn’t helped in developing understanding.

Happy to go in leading at HT because we’ve had very little control of it. It makes for a better game but I can’t imagine Pep is happy watching basketball.

Not sure what has happened to Ortega but it’s like having Bravo back in net. He doesn’t even bother his arse.

Our FBs are pissing in the wind out there. I like Gvardiol but when he’s off, he’s really off. Even when he’s on, he plays these crazy suicide passes every single game. Our 2nd goal, even came from him playing it straight to the opposition when under no pressure. As for Lewis, he offers nothing. He must be a nightmare for a RCB and CDM. The amount of times Khusanov or Nico get the ball and look for the easy pass to the RB, only to find he’s holding hands with Gundo is unreal.

I like our CB partnership but they’re not miracle workers.

Centre mid is doing ok. Look better in possession than they do out of it but we knew that already.

Going forward we look good. Sav and Doku doing well but it’s clear that Sav needs a ridiculous amount of work on his finishing.

Marmoush and Haaland working well together.

Might need a couple more goals to win this.

we’re bang average and a tight game with brighton is about right
We are bang average - you're right. Don't know what's happened to us but it's like watching us under Sven or even KK. We have gone 500 miles backwards this season.

Take the first half a dozen games out of the stats and we're a mid-table side.

Doku or Savinho off, it doesn’t work when they both play, but Savinho looks odds on for a red in the 2nd half so I’d take him first. Lewis off is also a given, he’s just weak all over.
Grealish & Reis to replace.
Just calm down 2nd half, we don’t look like we have a plan and there’s a general lack of quality touch and pass.
We’re certainly hard to watch at the minute.

Doku has been good, one of our biggest threats.

I like savinho but he could take a leaf out of Doku's book and mix it up a bit more.

He's deadly going on the outside but rarely tries it.

We lack fluency and control-crying for an extra passer in midfield second half.

We need to play EITHER Doku or Savi not both at the same time.

We've not had a true winger for years... now we have two raw ones and we're spunking them out there at the same time.

McAtee at RM for me, Savi off.

Their lack of defense is turning us over too often.

I don't get it. More possession, much better chances than them, we haven't suffered in transitions at all and the only chances from them are an awful pass from Gvardiol and the goal that Ortega should have stopped.

Gundogan is much better than what Bernardo or KDB would be doing right now, Savinho has missed 2 easy chances, but they don't happen without his great technique, dribbling and speed. Marmoush and Haaland are linking well. Khusanov is a star, and Nico is slow but it makes our pressing much better and we have recovered some dangerous balls thanks to that.

We have been far superior, and I don't get the negativity here today.

Bit of a scrappy half but deservedly in front. I do miss the feeling of us being in total control of games though.

We've looked decent enough going forward (Savinho's finishing excepted) and reasonably solid in defence. Gvardiol and Gonzalez have been rather poor and keep giving the ball away.

Savinho's on a yellow and has been making a few wild challenges and it wouldn't surprise me to see him subbed.

Tidy up our play a bit and we should win this.

replay of their freekick goal - why did rico lewis duck

I know people think he is treated harshly, but sorry he is a bang average player at best
