Would a simple clause in a contract not solve that?
No, it would be far from simple. How do you protect the club and the player? It would take several clauses and mean the club takes all the risk and may lose a fortune letting players go, and even topping up wages at a new club.

Would a simple clause in a contract not solve that?

Unlikely. Most players wouldn’t want the association or risk especially if they have other similar offers.

It’s why we’ve signed players who see joining us as a big opportunity - those where there isn’t really much high end competition.

Personally, if I had the opportunity of joining 2-3 companies, I wouldn’t join the one with hundreds of regulatory charges against them.

No, it wouldn’t. You’re talking about moving clubs, moving house, kids maybe moving schools, moving to a new country etc etc. All when you may well have other clubs courting you too who could well spit their dummies out once a player turns them down first time around.

It just isn’t that simple.

Yep - Txiki Begiristain has done a very poor job the last few years in terms of incomings. We squeezed everything out of our elite players
Yeah, the fact they all carried on winning for so long shows they were true pro's dedicated to winning things. Maybe we were lucky getting a group of players like that. Vinnie, Fern, D Silva, Aguero, B Silva, Gundo and KDB in their younger days. As you say Trixi bollocks magic picks seem to have deserted him lately and we have recruited a lot of average players. Also remember we messed up when Spurs knocked us back for Kane and we went and spent 100 million on Grealish as if the Kane money was burning an hole in our pocket. Don't get me wrong Grealish is a good player but not 100 million good player. With 100 million to spend you should be knocking on the door at R Madrid or Bayern for some big timer.

Haha this forum a full of none city fans or deluded
Daft comment!

If you were there yesterday? You can't not have noticed the apathy from the fans, and the team were not much better.

Brighton should have won, would you be crowing if they did?

Missing out on CL will be a disaster and it's a distinct possibility.

People don’t like Pep being criticised in here but this is on him and his dopey assistant. We needed pace in midfield and signed Nico who can’t run. So why not play a midfielder (Nunes) who we paid £50m for next to him in his position. Why not play Grealish in the 8. Nico O’Reilly scores 2 goals in the cup not seen since. If you keep picking the same players don’t be surprised when you keep getting the same results.

Oakie, when you saw the team did you feel confident ?
I don't know whether you class me as per your post but I was dreading the match.
4-2-4 ! One of the mids being Gundo.
Despite months of mediocre performances Pep stuck to the same small bunch of players including Bernie as the first sub.
His refusal to try a different player is being stubborn beyond belief.
If he has fallen out with Grealish, don't even put him in the squad.
Rico cannot play full back full stop so why persist with him there ? Try something different.
Surely after 7 days rest, Kdb can manage more than 10 minutes. If not ..........
The entire reason this thread exists is so supporters can say what they think. If we force posters to only post positives woth no moans/criticism allowed we are RAWK.
You’re dead right mate, can’t remember how many times this season I’ve referenced the “definition of insanity” yet yesterday once again it happens.

The weaknesses and Pep’s stubbornness are so easy to see - Rico shouldnt be anywhere near the starting 11, Gundo playing 90 is utterly fucking bizarre, Bernie first sub to go on the wing taking off Savio, Kova scratching his nuts when surely he’s the best option to play alongside Nico, how on earth is Kev not physically fit & lean yet when he’s been available for selection for about 3 months?

Its going to be one hell of a rebuild, I’m just not convinced it’s going to work with Pep doing it, has he really got the hunger after 10 years at the club, I’m not so sure.

do you want the Kova that watched forest run though us ?
all a matter of opinions bernado was injured so replaced but yes not a winger gundo cant play 90 KDB cant track back these days unfortunatly although id of started him and only 1 winger
Brighton just showed more effort and seen us collapse before due to pressure

The high press is easy against us as we don't hit long balls over the top to Haaland. We wait until the opposition is back in it's defense shape, than move forward

Pep’s reign is almost over, he knows it we know it. At the most he will stay one more season after this or may go after the world club comp. Either way the club need to be short listing a new manager. In the decades we were shit it was because we had no money for decent players and top managers didn’t come near us. Now we have decent players who seem bereft of confidence and seem confused as to their roles and one of the great managers who looks like he’s run out of ideas. In the final ten games we need to accept Pep will continue with the same square pegs in round holes and we will be made to look mediocre by teams who have got better as we’ve got worse. This season is done.

Who you suggesting then?

Who you suggesting then?
Fucked if I know, but Brighton, Bournemouth, the dips etc seem to get decent managers in. People in the club are paid a fortune to scout and in fairness during the Mansour reign they have got it right so expect they will bring in another good one.

Hi BM mate it wasn`t posted with any particular person in mind but lest be honest some fans don`t understand that great teams come and go in cycles and we can`t be at the top every season. I`ve mentioned this before and I`m still of the opinion that as a club we may have been swayed by our Lawyers during the summer not to spend any money on transfers as they needed to see how the land was lying with regard to the charges.
Have we ever known Txiki and Co not to spend any money when Pep asks for it ? You are quite correct and I too have said the same ref Pep being stubborn.
My biggest criticism I can level at him is the small squad of 18 players he says he would rather work with than a larger one. That has come back to bite him on the arse good and proper.
However my main point ref how some fans are becoming entitled still stands mate. We all know there will be a big clear out during the summer but we are stuck with some who are not at the level we have been used to.
Onwards and upwards BM.

Which you'd started out with "entitled".
