No one ever accused them of causing inflation. But believe what you want.
You are mad. Trump said this week that Biden is to blame for the economic melt down. Maga say they have inherited a bum economy with rising prices of GROCERIES (Trumps second favourite word), energy, eggs.
Trump said today, that now he was in charge egg prices are falling, as is fuel. (Not true). He ignores facts and you just copy him. You have lost what critical faculties you had in your confusion. Go for a lie down.
Deny this, if you dare. You are suffering cognitive bias by believing the Maga nonsense. It has scrambled your brain.

I know people have been trying to blame Trump as the proximate cause of several cases of measles breaking out in the U.S..

Here's a new story from the BBC about measles in Europe and Central Asia.

Measles highest in 25 years in Europe, WHO says.

The number of measles cases in the European region doubled last year to reach the highest level in 25 years, health officials say.

A joint report by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN children's fund, Unicef, said children under the age of five accounted for more than 40% of the cases reported in Europe and central Asia.

The WHO/Unicef joint analysis covering 53 countries said there had been 127,350 measles cases reported in the European region in 2024 - the highest since 1997.

Estimates from 2023 show that only four countries - Hungary, Malta, Portugal and Slovakia - had met the 95% threshold for vaccination to prevent an outbreak, the ECDC said on Tuesday.

Concern has been expressed in the UK, too, over the spread of the disease, as vaccination rates for two doses have fallen below 90%.

More than Trump specifically, people blame vaccine deniers and sceptics for the current spread of the disease, and we have plenty of those idiots in Europe too unfortunately.

Here's a brief blurb from WHO, 2015.

Vaccine hesitancy: A growing challenge for immunization programmes.

The issue is complex and context specific, varying across time, place and vaccines. It is influenced by factors such as misinformation, complacency, convenience and confidence.

As I've mentioned before I work for a US Bank.

I find it shocking how hardworking intelligent people with high level technical jobs can be so politically naive.

They kind of know Republicans are bad. But once they see those blue eyes, cowboy hat and big ass flag they go weak at the knees.
I think it also takes a certain amount of callousness and indifference to others. Leave aside everything about his obviously addled brain, minuscule vocabulary and inability to evoke or explain any remotely complex concept, there's so much cruelty and vindictiveness in Trump that one has to overlook to vote for him. I'm glad if some of these people are realising their mistake, but that's no comfort to the millions of people's lives he's now attempting to ruin, which he promised to ruin before they voted for him.

Federal judges continue to fight back.
1. The OPM has been ordered to reverse all the sackings of probationary personnel right across all the agencies. This is thousands of workers.
2. DOGE has been declared a federal agency subject to Freedom of Information Acts and must respond to requests from any citizen.
The judge ordered them to stop using an app in their communications which deleted their messages once read. Federal agencies are required to preserve all communications.
A tsunami of embarrassing info from from that agency is expected to be released. Musk is also subject to personal disclosures such as his salary and wealth held in US funds.
He may not survive these disclosures.

I think political naivety and a lack of interest in looking deeper into what’s going on in the world are the main reasons why a good proportion of Trump’s voters voted for him. I’ve spoken to plenty of seemingly normal people who think he’s quite funny and are not put off at all by his clearly authoritarian outlook because they don’t even see it. It’s sad that so many people are just not interested enough to even spend a minute thinking about it properly.

The Dems in the house more concerned about their stock market shares over the people they are supposedly representing allowing the GOP budget to pass without challenging it.

Schumer you're an embarrassment and appeaser of fascism.
I’m not saying he did the right thing, but actually, he was more concerned that if a shutdown occurred, the Trump & Musk would get to say who was a necessary worker and who could be furloughed…and maybe never asked back.

In short, they could use the vote to beat up on Dems for any economic damage (which is already occurring without their vote!) AND fire/furlough far more people than Doge could ever imagine.

Sadly you're right.

Trump deports alleged Venezuelan gang members by invoking the Alien Enemies Act. A judge subsequently blocked the deportation. Trump's administration ignores the judge claiming that plains deporting the alleged gang members are over international waters and not subject to the judge's rule.

This is but the first step Trump takes to do whatever he wants, court rulings be damned.

It's a test case. Let's see what we can get away with.

Next time he pushes further and then further still.

We're on the path to a dictatorship.

For the record - I'm in favor of deporting foreign gang members. Fuck them. It's idiotic that some sort of reasonable law doesn't allow Trump to take this action.

At the same time - such law exists. And Trump violated it. This is the next step towards authoritarian dictatorship that numerous pundits have warned against.

How can the courts actually stop actions though?
They declare them against the law and that they should be stopped, but then what?

I think you're right that he's (or more accurately, the people encouraging him) have realised that he can keep acting and nothing is actually able to stop any specific action

The courts interpret the law.

The executive enforces the law.

If the executive goes rogue and decides to act on their own - it's up to congress to stop them. But if congress won't act, then the executive can do whatever it wants. And this is precisely the "end of democracy" in the USA that so many of us have been warning against.

Yes, that's largely how it looks.

But even if Congress said 'no', would that stop them? It may make some things more tricky.

CNN’s Manu Raju shared a poll on Sunday’s Inside Politics he said shows the “brutal reality” of how negatively Americans view Democrats, with the favorable/unfavorable rating at its lowest point since the network began tracking the metric some 30 years ago.

Raju opened Sunday’s show with a full breakdown of a CNN/SSRS survey, reporting that it found only 29% of those polled viewed Democrats in a favorable light.

Fifty-four percent of those surveyed told CNN they viewed the Democratic Party unfavorably — something Raju called “staggering.”

While Democrats found themselves historically upside down in the survey, the Republican Party fared better, but not by much, coming in at just 36% favorable, and 48% saying they view the party unfavorably.

“Americans’ favorable views of the Democratic Party’s brand are at a record low, just 29%,” Raju reported. “It is the lowest ever recorded for Democrats in CNN polling, going back more than 30 years.”

A Democratic pollster told NBC News Democrats need a full “reboot” to regain their footing, with the latest survey showing the party at its lowest-ever popularity among voters.

Data guru Jeff Horwitt twisted the knife of bad news for Democrats, coming the same day as a separate CNN survey also found that Democrats are the most unpopular with voters they’ve been in the thirty years of that poll.

Horwitt, whose firm Hart Research Associates conducted the survey along with GOP pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies said it’s not just a matter of repositioning or presentation, as some have argued.

“With these numbers, the Democratic Party is not in need of a rebrand,” he said. “It needs to be rebooted.”

The survey, published by NBC News on Sunday, showed only 27% of registered voters view Democrats favorably and a mere 7% view Democrats “very” positively.

But over half, 55%, said they view the Democratic party negatively.

Horwitt said Democrats need to start from scratch with its lowest positive rating since NBC News began tracking the metric in 1990.

Fuck me they’ve got Conor McGregor off his tits in the White House spouting on about immigration in Ireland.
I think that totally sums up Trump.
He has a fellow convicted rapist as the Irish representative in the White House spouting shite and claiming to represent the real Irish people while the Tanaiste, Simon Harris is actually in New York but doesn’t get an invite.

I’ve gone beyond any semblance of understanding how America got to this state, but we all watch on knowing where it’s going and wonder WTF are they doing about it.

How do we feel about deporting them to a third country that wants the money you give them to build and maintain their prisons?

IT’S FUCKING BULLSHIT!!

I believe we call that “extraordinary rendition” and we are using El Salvador as the new Gitmo. They just built a new 40,000 capacity prison and the U.S. is going to pay for its construction by sending detainees there on military planes. Dark of night, no legal checks, no chance of possibly being innocent, what could possibly go wrong?

Authoritarian, dictatorial, and lapped up by those who think treating “other” as animals is good sport!

Now, don’t get me wrong…if someone is guilty of a crime then punish them accordingly. However, we currently have a Green Card holder married to a U.S. citizen, who spoke out in favor of Palestinians (using the First Amendment protections afforded all of us) who is being held in Louisiana (not NYC where he was picked up, of course, because they don’t need liberal lawyers getting up in their grill and we all know LA is such a great place to be detained as a prisoner!!) and is to be departed based on some ancient law that not only doesn’t apply but has never been used for such a petty “non-crime.” And, as part of that, of course, Trump has removed $400M of govt grants to Columbia University because the Palestinian protests made a few Jewish students on campus feel unsafe.

We are living in a DICTATORSHIP and the “Republican Party” (Reagan is rolling in his grave!) is enabling every single goose step along the way!!!

What.The.Actual.Fuck?
