Massive Rebuild Next Summer - Rate Our Side

There are still a lot of unknowns regarding the potential of Stones, Akanji, Ake, Rodri, Reis, Echverri, Khusanov, Marmoush and Bobb that might become clearer at the end of the season.

What reports are being cited here? Do they quote Pep, or is it just speculation?
The Guardian has reported that we're looking to sell many players currently in our squad - the reports I've seen have listed about 8 player or so.

I don't know the basis of The Guardian's claims - I don't think they directly cited Pep.

Numerous outllets tell me thaat Utd are going to buy every star there is going. I dont believe them as much. I am just going off how we do things and we dont buy 8 players, get rid of 8. I dont think any teaam does that. If we do that though and it works brilliant.
Cheers. You may be spot on.

On the other hand - our current squad is full of world class players past their prime and players that aren't quite good enough for a side hoping to finish top of the P/L. It's because of this fact that I credit The Guardian's reporting - that we're looking for a massive summer transfer window. But I may be wrong... we'll see.

If we get rid of 8 we only have room to bring 4 in so it isn’t that far fetched as my post on tne last page shows.

As far as I can see we are not going to go buying tons of players in the summer, that then need to get up to speed.

We've done our spending imo, what we're doing now is bedding in those players ready for next season.

We might buy 1 or 2 maybe make a big signing. But it's crucial that the continuity happens, bernardo, akanji, grealush, etc will probably stay to ensure that.
Obvs a few will go through natural wastage, gundog, Kevin, maybe.

So by the end of this season I'm expecting and hoping we are starting to see how we will be next year.
If that's the case we are going to be a mid table team.

The 'Guardian' should be boycotted. Follow Pep's press conferences, and City fan sites like Esteemed Kompany.

Our squad is weakened badly by injury so we need to see whether by the end of the season players like Stones, Rodri, Bobb are playing. We need to see how the young players we bought in January are doing. And we need to know whether we are in the CL, and what the outcome of the 115 case is.

Many of our players like Doku, Savinho and Khusanov are developing. You can't categorise them. We have brought in a young player called Echeverri who has incredible potential, likewise Bobb. Just the addition of Rodri, Echverri and Bobb might transform the current side, but they will need time.

Cheers. This thread is a bit of speculative fun - who knows what will happen in the summer?

Have you rated our side? S-tier through F? If not, I welcome your input.

I can see City buying a keeper, full-back and a play-maker but not wholesale changes largely because we don't know the potential of the players we have. There are too many unknowns: Nico Gonzalez, Echeverri, Bobb, Rodri, Savinho, Doku, Stones, Akanji. These are injured or developing players. Even Foden is an unknown because his game has fallen apart but surely that's temporary.

Definitely a rb,probably a keeper, creative midfielder, most of all bar Dias we don’t have any leaders on the pitch

This is the type of players we need to make us competitive to win the league next season

100m Wirts
80m Bruno G
65m Wharton
60m Cambiaso

Foden worries me, something is very wrong there.

Bobb sadly due to this injury and Echeverri are going to be bit part players for me, anything else would be a huge bonus.

Unless we go out and buy 4-5 top class/elite players we are in for mediocrity.

A: (World class, extremely reluctant to sell): Haaland, Khusanov, Gvardiol, Stones (if he recovers from injury), Rodri (if he recovers from injury). Does Foden sit here. I can't say because right now his form is appalling but there's no reason he can't recover.
B: (P/L Class great player - prefer very much not to sell): Bobb, Echeverri and Ries are all unknowns. Where do I put them? Echeverri could flop, or he could be the next Messi.
C: (P/L Good, but consider offers):
D: (P/L Average or maybe a bit worse, hoping to sell):
E: (Sub-adequate, past their prime or otherwise a detriment, sell or offer on loan):
F: (Sell, sell, sell): Nunes (but we won't be able to sell him)
G: Release: Gundogan, Walker, KDB

I can't do your categorisation because there are too many players I don't know enough about. Where do I put Nico Gonzalez? And Marmoush. New players who are just settling in.

City are in complete flux at the moment. It is impossible to do complete your exercise, although I did try.

Not Guimaraes, too difficult to make room in the squad, we don’t need 3 midfielders, and most important Newcastle won’t sell and he doesn’t want to leave.

Category X in the OP:
X: (Unknown - new/fringe players whom you've not watched enough to form an opinion):

IMO Echeverri and Bobb have incredible potential but could also amount to very little but the season is not over yet. There are too many unknowns e.g., Rodri, Marmoush, Khusanov, Nico. And players like Doku and Savinho are developing. There are many injured players too. How will they recover.

We could be close to a title-winning squad. We don't know.

I’m hoping it’s just fatigue from previous campaigns. He’s still very young and it’s quite normal for young players to have a blip at some point. Palmer’s experiencing one at the moment. The Euro’s were a disaster from a confidence and self-esteem perspective and he’s been ill and had some niggles as well. He was a key player last season that delivered us the league title. I retain hope with him, and a number of our current squad, that they’ll be back to their best next season. They’ve not all suddenly turned to shit.
