Newcastle United 2024/25

A few on here doubted Howe, saying he had only managed a small club. But that doesn't alter his skills. His record is brilliant and the barcodes were a relegation candidate when he took over.
Well done to him: his team showed massive committment, good tactics, well organised.
I never doubted him.
I always thought he was a good manager.
It was the Newcastle owners i had my doubts about.
If they cannot build on this cup win he will be struggle to remain in charge.

fair play to them, wanted them to suffer more years without a trophy but they've finally done it and absolutely bossed that final.

You can’t get in anywhere.
The bars are too full, and have been all day.
The Tesco Express opposite SJP was closed by the police after full time.

Thanks for the congratulations.

Honestly, I cried at fulltime.
I was at a watch party in a bar in Newcastle for members of a Newcastle forum that I go on. The guy who set it up is a Newcastle fan from Chesterfield, his dad is a Sheffield United fan, and his parents came up with him.
His dad was consoling me as I cried both at half time, and full time.

After full time the first thing I did was call my stepdad who in hospital. He was the one who got me interested in football, last time we got to the final in 2023 I watched it with him. I thought that I had to share those moments with him.
I made sure he had credit on his TV to be able to watch it, as I did for the 2nd leg of the Arsenal match.
To think a week before the 2nd leg of the Arsenal match, we were asked by the Dr’s about what his wishes were, it’s relief that not only has pulled through and is on the mend, but he got to see us win something.
All of our fans know people who never did.

Honestly though, amazing, and nothing has sunk in yet.
By all rights the club should be on an upward trajectory, and you would think that we’ll go on to win more trophies, but there is no guarantee that it will happen, and we’ll savour this, no matter if it turns out to be our only one, or just the first one.
Lovely, I'm genuinely delighted for your Stepdad.

As the seconds ticked down yesterday it reminded me of our 1st Trophy in decades v Stoke back in 2011. Our support in the Semi and the Final was magnificent in both games, far more passionate than it is these days.

I imagine a significant number of Newcastle fans will be perplexed as to some articles this morning. Think they’ve had a taster of what’s to come. Sniping and carping about their ownership every time they win something.

Problem with these articles is they never want to get to the root cause of why football ended up here and why it’s necessary for clubs like ours to have the ownership that it has.

Great news to hear your stepdad is on the mend. Based on my stepdad's experience (he took on four of us between the ages of 3 and 14), it is a tough job. For the record, he has ben an amazing stepdad to my sisters and me, and he doted on my mother right up until she passed away in September. He was a big had a very positive influence on me. Thankfully, not in relation to football as he is a Spurs fan (Anglo Indian, born in India but raised in Brent).

Anyway, back to the football...
I enjoyed the game. Partly because I like to see Liverpool lose but mostly because I was happy for the Newcastle fans. I don't have a soft spot for Newcastle but having watched my team win a trophy for the first time in a long time (supporter from 81/82 and we did not win a trophy until 2011) and recalling the sheer joy of that day, I knew how you all felt.

Some may say, "Well, it's only a league cup" but I disagree. Seeing your team lift a trophy for the first time in a long time is a wonderful feeling. Beating Stoke at Wembley in 2011 gave me as much satisfaction as any trophy we have won since. If you are like me, you will have a permanent grin on your face for several more days. You are fully entitled to feel smug for at least a few weeks!

It's started! First out of the blocks is Britain's biggest xenophobic broadsheet, the Littlewoods-loving Torygraph...
Wow! What a poorly thought out racist headline, yes they have spent some money since the takeover but have been restricted by ffp,
This misleading headline does a huge disservice to Newcastle and their players who totally outplayed the dippers, racism at its worst!

Getting to watch that with my old man was absolutely magic. Both of us shed many tears honestly cannot believe it. Really thought we'd get beat - so much so that I haven't even booked tomorrow off work, mistake in hindsight. Thought I'd die without ever seeing us win something - Howay Newcastle!!!
If you had booked the day off, you’d have lost.

You did the right thing!

Many congratulations.

Brilliant. This is what football is about. I felt the same when we overcame our own hoodoo and won the Cup in 2011. I hope you can get proper investment and kick on. The corrupt cartel of clubs running the PL need a shake-up. I hope Everton get backing and join the top table as well. The more competition the better.

The Telegraph is happy with Middle East money pouring into Horse Racing, the "Sport of Kings," the City of London, and the London property market. But they don't like it when overseas investment goes into one of the poorest regions of our country. It sums up the state of this London-centred country very clearly.

Here we go Geordie's, expect an escalation of this if you dare to have anymore success.

But don’t the Rags want uk government cash to build that stupid looking ground. A government that arms SA, and a government that has started an illegal war?
