Feel a bit better after today's results but we really need to finish Top 4.

5th place is a play off in the middle of fucking Summer!

Last thing we need is a 2 legged play off, throw in the possibility of winning the Cup and Charity Shield qaulifation.

Could be an extra 3 games before we even start on next season!
No idea where you've got 5th place having a play off from

In January we were about to embark on a run of games where people were saying we’d be in the bottom half after all the injuries we have (and more have gone down since).

We’d just beaten Ipswich away and were 5th on 19th January, then we played:
Paris Chelsea Brugge Arsenal Orient Madrid Newcastle Madrid Liverpool Tottenham Plymouth Forest Brighton

We’re still 5th.

I read it today on UEFA website!

I did wonder and spent a while trying to clarify.

29 teams straight into the group, 7 places determined by a 2 legged qualifier.

If I misread it than so be it.

btw could even 7 clubs be in CL from PL?

Villa winning CL haha
and Spurs winning EL (or the ugly rags)

The teams that go directly into the league phase are determined by UEFA country coefficients.
This season the two countries with additional teams (Germany and Italy) each had all five of their clubs go automatically into the league phase and that would be the case with England next season.

Hopefully then.

It's a bloody minefield trying to find the info.

Newcastle look to have the best balance of defence, midfield and attack and can beat anyone on their day so I reckon their favourites for 4th which leaves us battling it out with Villa, Brighton, Chelsea (not so much) and dark horses Bournemouth for 5th. For some reason playing week to week has become difficult for us, and we look all over the place in the last two performances. Hopefully Pep can get his mojo back and find a way to get enough passes to Haaland to get us over the line.

United are only 11pts behind us. I'll take finishing above them right now and I'm only half joking.
Me to mate, that shambolic match at the Etihad cost us 6 points.

Without that utterly dross finish to the game we would now have 51pts (4th) and the Rags would have 34 pts (15th).

So a 17pt gap with 9 matches to play, no way would they make that up.

It's just madness how we all say great we have a week's gap inbetween games now, but it makes fuck all difference to performance levels if anything we look worse. One day or one week makes no difference whatsoever

There are three fixtures against Leicester, Southampton and Wolves that are simply not negotiable. We have to win and allow some of our rivals to take points off each other.

What nobody can predict is the best result for City when Villa host Newcastle/Chelsea play at St James's Park/Chelsea play at Forest

Depending on our results, we might want a draw, but nearer the time, it might be better for the home team to win etc

There's also the mindset of other clubs if they progress in the other competitions, especially when Villa are still in two cups.
In theory that's our hardest remaining fixture, but it could easily prove to be the opposite.

I tell you what, that game at the swamp will be a tough game. Rags playing some good stuff now. They know how to raise their game for the big sides.

Agreed. They’re looking a lot better than at the time of the derby in December which was an awful spectacle between two teams close to rock bottom.
The game is on the Sunday before the rags have the first leg of the EL QF so hopefully they will have one eye on that.

Just did a check on all the fixtures for us and our rivals. Trying to be as neutral as I can, i have us having the best fixtures left on paper. I think we can still pip Forest and I have Newcastle as our main threat. Chelsea, Brighton, Villa and Forest have a very tough run in.
I have City finishing on 69 winning all of our remaining home games and drawing 3 of our away games at United, Everton and Fulham and a win against Soton at their place.
I have Newcastle and Forest on 67
Chelsea 64
Brighton 62
Villa 56 (Very tough fixtures and still in the 2 cups.)

The Geordies might be on the beach for the next couple of weeks.

You think we'll go unbeaten for the rest of the season, only dropping 6 points in our away games?
