The Democrats may be fucked and deservedly so but if they rebrand themselves it's got to be a party more orientated to the working class.

The courts interpret the law.

The executive enforces the law.

If the executive goes rogue and decides to act on their own - it's up to congress to stop them. But if congress won't act, then the executive can do whatever it wants. And this is precisely the "end of democracy" in the USA that so many of us have been warning against.
THANK YOU!!

We were laughed at, even as we pointed to the evidence in front of us all, but why worry, eh, it’s not affecting me, right?!

Tick, tock, mutherfuckers, because this net is wide and will engulf us all, like it or not….unless, of course, you’re part of the anointed class, which none of us are!!!

It’s why I’ve said it repeatedly that my goal is to cobble together enough money to fuck off into the countryside and hole up in a nice little lakehouse with enough money to insulate myself and my family, in order to keep us away from the shit that is coming down. And, as you already know, yes, I’m armed and trained to use them!

America needs a new direction, and fast, because this one is going to have us jump the tracks and the derailment is not going to be pretty!

Why “deservedly so”?? And, do you think they’re not already aligned with the working class now? If not, then who are they aligned with?

Where do you live?

Jimharri has a shed down the back in Co. Mayo, if you talk nicely to him he might do you a favour.

The democratic party from my British perspective are a party paid for by the wealthy, for the wealthy which is only natural given the vast sums of money needed to get elected.

The republicans are the same but with more reactionary social policies.
That's not to say that there are any political parties in the west who are actually socialist and in power. The labour party in the UK isn't socialist.

US Institute of Peace says DOGE has broken into its building

WASHINGTON (AP) — Employees of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency have entered the U.S. Institute of Peace despite protests from the nonprofit that it is not part of the executive branch and is instead an independent agency.

The organization's CEO, George Moose, said, "DOGE has broken into our building." Police cars were outside the Washington building Monday evening.

The DOGE workers gained access to the building after several unsuccessful attempts Monday and after having been turned away on Friday, a senior U.S. Institute of Peace official said. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

It was not immediately clear what the DOGE staffers were doing or looking for in the nonprofit's building, which is across the street from the State Department in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood.

Yes, the only difference between Republicans and Democrats is the reactionary social policies. Thank you for making this extraordinarily complex issue so simple for the rest of us.

I’d politely suggest a quick review of your understanding to help correct your perspective.

If things get really bad, I’ll head North to live with those nice Canadians. Hopefully, my British passport will get me in!!
Of course Chicago, you'd be very welcome, but please try and lose any American accent you may have picked up.........eh!!

I'd perhaps rethink Canada, after all, there was talk of us becoming a 51st State or summat or other and then you would have gone through all the upheaval for nothing.

.........and we are nice, just a bit fired up at present, but still nice.

Much better beer as well.

There are not enough Americans ready to drop gloves to make Oh Canada the 51st state! The looney is not just a coin!!!

Whilst we all acknowledge that Trump is bad news both for the US and the wider world it seems by many that his arrival is seen as a huge aberration to what has gone before.

As if all the wars that successive US presidents have been complicit in can somehow be swept under the carpet.

As if the inability to provide free health care for all is somehow an Impossible dream.

The inability to see how ridiculous the carrying of guns seems to most of the rest of the world.

The financial support and encouragement of Israel in its destruction of Palestine.

But above all the hyper capitalism and financialization of everything that moves that has sadly been exported all over the globe due to the hegemony of the dollar.

I posted about a couple of polls yesterday that showed Democrats with their lowest approval since 1990.

For instance - A CNN/SSRS survey released Sunday found only 29% of those polled viewed Democrats in a favorable light. Fifty-four percent said they viewed the Democratic Party unfavorably.

A Separate poll also released on Sunday by NBC News showed only 27% of registered voters view Democrats favorably, and a mere 7% view Democrats “very” positively. Fifty-five percent viewed Democrats in an unfavorable light.

There's more -
You think these numbers are low? How about this one? Holy Toledo. Voters’ views of the Democrats in Congress among all voters disapproved, 68%. And look at the approved number, just 21%, even lower than the Democratic Party at large. This is the lowest on record for Democrats, according to Quinnipiac University polling. You think these numbers are bad?

Let’s go to this side of the screen. Well, look how Democratic voters feel. Get this, the plurality of Democratic voters disapprove of Democrats in Congress at 49%, and just 40% approve. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Oh my goodness gracious, you just can’t get worse than these numbers.

**77% of Democratic voters polled felt their party was not doing enough to oppose President Donald Trump.**

Sixty-five percent of them said they would be happy to see their elected officials fail as long as they stayed true to their principles and nothing was accomplished.

Who even are the Democratic party, do they even exist?

I can't see many putting their head above the parapet to try and lead them going forward, due to the onslaught that will come their way from the Trump administration. And it all feels a bit pointless, as we're assuming they'll be elections to attempt to win in 2028, which obviously, there won't be.

They know they are, they're sure they are, they're Donny till he dies.

The American Dream is to rise from the ranks of the working class. Climbing over anyone that gets in the way is ok.
A party that in effect would support keeping you in the working class has a limited appeal.
Blair and co realised similar applies in UK in the 90s.
