CL Quarter Final MCFC v Chelsea

Shades of Saturday. Playing some nice football up to a point but not really creating any clear cut chances. Just taking long shots that end up far too close to the keeper. Chelsea dangerous on the transitions or the hoof-ball over the top. Ref's doing okay apart from getting too close to the action one time.

More than holding our own against a team who are unbeaten this season, just like we did on Saturday. It’s that last stage, getting it in the onion bag, that’s the struggle here, esp without Lauren and Bunny.

Would like to see us shooting in the corners/sides of the goal - our shots so far have made Hampton look like the worldie she definitely isn’t.

Jess and Jill brilliant in midfield so far, but wide we are having mixed fortunes against their full backs.

There you have it. Greenwood at the back, Hemp and Shaw up front, it's a different story in my opinion. Fujino's a lively player, too. Collectively, these are serious losses.
The story of the women has been a bit similar to that of the men. A season clearly affected by injuries.

Their hoofball will get the cross eyed lion in at least once during the 2nd 45.
We look toothless up front as I expected. Have to get Miedema on at some point any shots she's likely to have should at least trouble their keeper. She likes top bins. Want to see Lily run at Lucy more, she won't enjoy chasing an 18 year old with pace to burn.
Strange game where Yui"s hardly got into it. I think we were ready for their press on her when we play out from the back and worked on missing her out through Gracie to either Karolin or Roord with a quick ball rapped out wide or into midfield. It's worked to a great degree. I suspect Chelsea to put their Japenese midfielder on to increase the press.

Much better from Jill so far - disagree about Jess though I thought she was anonymous for most of that half.

Considering our injuries we are not doing so bad - would love to get a lead for the second leg. As with the game at the weekend I just don't get why everyone thinks Chelsea are that good - they are better in 50/50's but rely on a hoof up top.

Thought she was helping knit it together well, unspectacular I’d agree.

Yes, agreed on Chelsea. They don’t look like they concede many goals though.

We know she has quality but she has to realise that she has to work hard off the ball - example being gifting the ball away there and just standing still waiting for a teammate to make a tackle.

Hey at least Kerolin has just realised she can beat Bright for pace!
