I think everyone realised it was a reserve game and the whole competition was beneath us. I’m glad Big Joe took that attitude to it. It would have been even more embarrassing than Gillingham to have taken the competition seriously.

York was one of the more attractive games of the season in a lovely city, with friendly people, just before Christmas and loads of great pubs.

I went to that Wrexham game - think it was Boxing Day - freezing cold and pretty wet - certainly tested my loyalty that era. My mind plays games sometimes but I’m pretty sure Terry Cook played for Wrexham that day.
