The club definitely know Pannick's opinion and have spent 200 million and given Erling a 115 month deal after hearing it, but that isn't the same as knowing the final decision of the panel.

In the main the opposite, at least face to face with their opponent at the end of a contested hearing. Partly for reasons of good manners/convention, and so as not to build themselves up for a fall, and because the only way people can improve is to be self critical to some extent.

Same principle applies with the client. Their expectations need to be managed, not heightened. So best not to give it the Billy Big Bollocks at the end.

So, no every lawyer does not say they did well. Plenty do, but plenty absolutely don’t, even if they are quietly confident.
