All I'm saying us that Phil could probably do with a change. He's not regressed over the season. Looks disinterested and lacks real. motivation

A change is as good as a rest.
he's had one bad season in which the whole teams had an off season that doesn't mean let's get rid of him or is that what we do now if you have a bad season ship them out

Blaming Pep for hindering Foden when he continues to play the likes of Doku and Savinho is laughable.
Foden will come good again

Spot on. Phil has to take personal responsibility for his performances. He's 24 now, he's not a kid. I've written this season off for him. But next season is make or break for him. Will he come back the player he was last season, or are we going to be left disappointed with him? I hope, and trust, it'll be the former.

I'm sure that we all hope it's the former Jim, but I just don't see the same 'spark' in the lad.

I honestly suspect that he's happier at home with his kids than he is playing football.

Class is permanent, form is temporary. It's up to Phil to prove the adage.

Fwiw I do think there may be some truth in that the players are getting a bit sick of Peps intensity and methods after so long under him. What's the saying, familiarity breeds contempt? But I'd get rid of the lot of them before the Greatest manager of all time!

Hopefully Foden can sort himself out though as he's still got so much left of what can still be a great career.

24 years old, at the club since he was 4.

Twenty years wrapped in cotton wool and told he's the best player ever. Twenty years following strict directions.

He's old beyond his time, and has probably become bored with the same daily routine. Perhaps (like a lot of fans) he's grown tired of Pep's (increasingly slower) retain/recycle football for the past 7/8 years.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to think that he enjoys his family life a lot more than football, watching his kids living the type of childhood he never really had.

Phil's development has stalled. He's still being given 'second fiddle' roles by Pep, and there's no indication of Pep rebuilding the team around him as we all expected.

There's still a great player in there. He just needs a fresh opportunity.

Probably getting a bit stale, maybe needs a new challenge?

Deffo a bit of a media pile-on on Foden going on. Sure, he’s been mediocre at best this season. It’s forgivable after a stellar season/s previously. However, if this malaise continues then the club have a huge decision to make. Let’s hope he comes back firing. I genuinely feel he just needs a goal to get things going again.

It's a team game, and Phil was one of the main men.... a year ago.

A year later.... It's still a team game, and Phil is one of the weakest players

Neither comment can be disputed.

It's now that matters, not last season.
you said he would never be the main man well last season he was the main man for city alongside rodri that won us the title so what your saying any player that has a bad season should be shipped out

He wouldn't be the first one who's had a career decline at 25. R9, Gotze, Wilshere & Walcott. Even our very own Balotelli!

We've just been spoiled by David Silva, KDB, Kun Aguero, Fernandinho. But in actuality.. it's more rare to see a player sustain his peak over a long time.

Still hoping he turns it around.

Wilshere had glass ankles, the surgeon who worked on his initial injury was surprised he was still walking when he saw him 5 years later.

Gotze had a rare metabolic disorder.

Ronaldo was still unreal he just loved partying and was about 12kg’s overweight.

Balotelli was just a nutcase.

Dunno what’s happening with Phil, unless the club have been deliberately quiet about whatever illnesses or issues he was having at the start of the season, and it was more serious than let on, then really nothing has happened for him to lose all form and physicality.

I reckon it’s all mental personally. He’ll be back anyway, back the lad.

So you've not been watching this season?

His form has dropped off a cliff. It's not something gradual... he's a totally different player.
yeah i have been watching him this season and he hasn't been good is that good enough for you or am i still been a fanboy haha but doesn't take away from what he did last season when i say he was one of the main men in our title win last season

Foden is a complete mystery, he was world fucking class last season but how does most of a team turn to shit ?
Yeah Kev and Gundo are worn out, but all the rest are now average at best including Phil, Eddie, Akanji, Jack and Bernie.

I'm fucking baffled.
