English ones? I agree but we are coming to a cross roads now. Walker is going and Stones will be gone soon too. Replace them with foreign players and then it's only foden and average left for the qoutas which will force us to involve average homegrown players. We have to sign at least 1 good home grown player this summer

Wish I was some average English player. I would end up at a top club just for being English. Livramento would be #1 but not available so rather go for someone like Gomes instead of Wharton who‘s profile is already here

Maybe but players need to leave first, at least 6 or 7 just to bring in 3. I didn't include Bah, Reis we don’t know yet think the other 3 are ready plus Echeverri, who we don’t know yet.

Yeah he is decent.....

But as I said in a thread earlier on.....we are looking to replace the quality of prime Gundo, Kdb, Bernardo and even the likes of David Silva and Yaya and ferna......do any of these players come close to that quality or even do they have the potential......Wirtz for me certainly does.....Baena looks a good shout as well that he could reach that level - but thats it from the ones mentioned....

The rebuild is much bigger than people are ready to believe....Rico Lewis, Kovacic, Nunes, Phillips have all been asked to replace that quality mentioned from the players above.....they dont even come close...not by a mile and you the drop off is there fore all to see....Can Nico Gonzales step up? He has looked decent so far BUT there is a long way between decent and prime Ferna for instance.

We also need to replace Kyle Walker - I think many people are forgetting (due to how quickly he dropped off) how vital Walker was and how good he was...he was the only fullback to every shut down Mbappe, Neymar etc on a regular basis - again replacing him with Rico Lewis and expecting that to be good enough is just absurd - Khusonov has done ok but he is a centre half and while he has walkers pace he doesnt have the technical ability from a wider position going forward (and for waker this was his weakest point at the height of his power).
You could argue we also need a left back - Gvardiol and Ake are both centre halves and while both can fill in there (Ake is done physically as well) we need a proper left back (how long have we been saying this now!!)

Livarmento - very good but injury prone already - and would be hugely expensive
Frimpong - not great defensively
Robinson (fulham) - would costa fortune
Cambiaso - think this is one we will end up with as it was seemingly close in January

Sometimes you’ve got to turn a player into world class. Fernandinho was 28 and playing in Ukraine, we took a punt on Gundo’s injuries first time around.

Rodri looked bobbins to begin with. Rebuild is gonna take time if it’s to be sustainable.

You’re all going to have to learn to be patient.

The likes of Cherki could transform us imo.

Wasn't entirely sure about some posters stating journos scouring BM for content. However, lo & behold without too many links in the past regarding Cherki, a couple of posters ear mark the chap, put a few impressive YT videos, especially regarding his recent U21 national team performance against England & the next day I discover this on my news feed from Forbes.

To be honest, Viana is big mates with Romano so when he puts something about us now, it will have come from Viana himself. I`m sure @Gumzy97 can confirm that?

Some English players are overrated, but I’d argue some of our best players over the last ten years have been English. You only have to look at the academy players we have produced as well- there’s quite a few who’d get into our team currently

Just the way it is. If we sign only foreign players and we max them out then we have to fill it in with sub par home grown players and you've just made the squad depth shit. Better off paying a little extra for decent homegrown that can function in a well oiled machine or just pray top level youth players come through

Yeah , read up about it in the winter window, Viana would give insight into Sporting’s signings to Fabrizio, if you noticed during the winter window Fabrizio was first on transfers to us especially Khusanov and Reis

Livramento is the only one worth the price I guess. Especially since the club needs a RB. Beside that I think the club needs someone like Gomes more than someone like Wharton who is too similar to Nico and Rodri in terms of agility.

Only Walker and Grealish are leaving.

We still have: Ake, Stones, Foden, Bobb, Carson, 3 of the academy to fill out our quota of 8 domestic slots.

Now if one of Stones or Ake is moving on (which might be hard to do).. I could see an opening but I doubt it.

And we could get an English backup keeper for not a lot to make the numbers work. We don't have to go in for English stars.. and we should give the English academy players we manufacture a chance to save us money.

We need midfielders.. 4 of them to replace Kova/ Bernie/ Gundo & KDB. Just Wirtz in is grossly insufficient.
