30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2024/25

I hope so. Players develop very fast at that age and he needs to be in the Premier League and we need him. City lack a no.10. Gundogan and KDB are old. Foden is off-form, Bernardo is slowing up. Marmoush is adapting to the PL. Even if Echeverri is not ready this season which I can accept, I want to see him next season. I have a feeling that he could be an outstanding player although there is no guarantee of that

Yeah don’t get it either. Reis and Him need to stay. Once they play there they don’t wanna come back. Look at Perrone. Most likely in love with the city and climate.

Kayky is like Moreno who we signed around the same time as Jesus but never featured in a single game.

Rightly or wrongly, City were heavily criticised in South America for the way we treated and ultimately "ruined" Moreno (now at Tenerife in the Spanish 2nd tier)

We can't just keep gambling on potential without some negative reaction. These are young lads being shipped out to a strange country and some will adapt far quicker than others.

I forgot that city is the only club that gets South American players. Buying Spanish speaking players and to loan them out to Spain or Italy where the climate and language is similar - then for them to back and then except to adapt in a country with a different language they have never spoken + different climate which is very important for them. I don’t know about that

Players are usually ambitious and want to reach the top,or the best players are.They only don't come back to us if they or the club think they aren't good enough to make it or haven't proven themselves. Any player that doesn't come back because they like the coffee and the sunshine probably don't have the required drive to make it with us.
Players go on loan all the time and go back to their parent club basing a players future on some obscure notion they might prefer living where you send them is just daft.

Chelsea and ourselves seem to do it more than most.
Other clubs who buy a younger player may have them at the club for a while and then send them on loan, if that is best for the club and the player.
The likes of Kayky, Moreno , Unal etc. hardly made our car park.
I'm not saying that any of these would have made it with us but I would prefer they got some acclimatisation at the club and assess what is their best path.
Couto and Kabore are examples of players who were available to us at the start of the season who may have filled in at RB, a position that we are struggling with.
I'd rather see them get a go at the club and move on if not good enough than never see them get a chance to prove themselves.
Echeverri, like Reiss, should be based at the club initially and a reasonable time taken to decide on a long term plan.
I'm not against loans at all but I don't think young players signed by us should go directly to another club without spending time at their parent club.

I don't disagree and think Echeverri and Reis probably will stay. My point was more the reasoning. The fact we might send them somewhere nice so they decide they don't want to come back to Manchester won't be part of any thinking.

BTW If I were of Italian Heritage and playing in a nice stadium that overlooks Lake Como.. I'd look at settling down there too. ;)

EPL football is not for everyone.. it's a very corrupt league. FFS Even Bernardo has wanted to leave since 2020!

I think he just wants to play. Yes its an idyllic setting, but Fabregas is building something and he's a valued player, I can see the lure for him.

Both would have been in training well over 4-5 months by the time the call would be made as well, club'll know where they stand by then i expect.
 
He's no use to us until he fills out physically. He makes Foden look stocky. This isn't a kids too small and writing him off post either, he just has a child's body at the moment and needs to fill out. I can't see him being sent to Lazio because he won't play there either. He'll be put on a specific fitness program by the club, he has all the technical ability in the world. Just be patient with the lad, he wasn't bought to be a quick fix. Even River used him sparingly despite his obvious huge talent because of this, and we were paying them per appearance.

Reminds me of posh Victorian ladies employing wet nurses rather than suffer the indignity of anyone sucking their tits. However, we can afford to farm out player development and will continue to do so.

I know we can afford to farm out players but its not necessarily best for heir development.
I think loaning out the UK players is a good idea but not so for the likes of the South Americans, for example.

Yeah, but it’s our model. The likes of Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth do it differently - and effectively - but they play to a very different model.
