The US seem to think it is perfectly OK to put tarrifs on the rest of the world, why not the rest of the world putting taffifs on the US. As a side effect of this, the price of eggs in Asia will rise.

President Trump said he would impose a 25% tariffs on cars that are imported into the United States on Wednesday.

The tariffs will apply to finished cars and trucks that are shipped into the United States, including American brands whose automobiles are assembled overseas, and could raise prices for consumers significantly. Nearly half of all vehicles sold in the United States are imported.

To be fair, IF we get a favourable trade deal and he hammers the EU with enormous tarrifs then it clearly would be a Brexit benefit. A big if though.

Tbh I think he might do us a favourable trade deal and stick to it just to piss the EU off. Ultimately, like any US president, he'll do whatever best serves the interests of the billionaire lobbyists and donors that got him into office.

The only response to this is for every single country impacted by this which is everybody to impose reciprocal tariffs on the US and do thr same with any retaliation.

Trump is banking on being able to freely throw his weight around and other countries just taking it. the response needs to be firm, no fannying around, take canadas lead and hit them straight back.

The US tresury secretary has already warned against retaliatory tariffs strongly advising against it and threatened escalation, i wonder why that is? He knows they'll be absolutely fucked if everybody retaliates.

The whole world will suffer from a trade war, nobody with any sense wants it but the US have already entered into one here. It's no longer avoidable and there has to be a response. The US will suffer hardest if everything they import and export is subjected to tariffs. If their cost of living jumps a minimum of 10% and more likely to be 20-30% if not higher overnight, how long will they put up with that?

The rest of the world will hurt too whilst they adjust but we'll find other trade deals and learn to be less reliant on US.

I'm no economist but I'd say that retaliating just makes more hassle for us.

Id imagine that most people will not buy American if they can avoid it because decent people can see the nonesense of this Whitehouse.

We could see a big boost in domestic products and services.
