City Announces Global Partnership with Viagogo

Let's be honest, despite what Khaldoon, Sorriano, Wilson or any other executive has to say, they don't give a fuck for the regular match going fan.
It's all about the pound, shilling and pence, if they had their way, it would be no season tickets, just day trippers, tourists, cash rich middle upper class mugs with money to burn, all spending in the club shop, enjoying the cringe worthy match day experience.
Gonna be interesting if we get to the cup final, how many tickets have these agencies been promised as part of the new agreement.

I respect what your saying, but who gives a fck what the media and other fans think. Why does you care about that?

I’d also say it’s 9 minutes of one game. I wouldn’t call it a punishment, especially if it effects your future attending games (freeze in prices)

If it undermines the point we're trying to achieve to give a load of idiots a free hit than I care, yes.

As for the 9 minutes thing. If one of our players scores the goal of the season or there's a significant moment, red card, penalty etc I'd quite like to have been watching it. Personally I don't see the benefit of loads of blues missing out on watching the team. Good luck to those that decide to do it, but I won't be.

its just the start. There’s plenty of opportunity for other forms of protest
But this might as well not happen at all. It's utterly pointless because it will be completely invisible.

It doesn't hurt them. It doesn't hurt us.

Surely it would be better to just take a bit of time, think about it, and then go in big.

If people want to protest properly then proper sacrifices need to be made. Like missing entire games and not selling your ticket on. Missing the first nine minutes when you might well have missed the first five anyway isn't going to achieve anything positive.

However, when there is a public statement suggesting there is going to be a protest and then nobody sees anything, it becomes a bigger negative than doing nothing, and then the next and bigger planned protest falls on deafer ears than it would have.

Trust me. We did something similar at St. Helens RLFC over 15 years ago and we ended up just getting laughed at. It was a car-crash, because we rushed in a week before rather than mulling it over and gathering numbers and ideas to make a proper impression.

I know you’re probably joking, but I’ve had a few mates say ‘come and watch Wythy Town’ ‘come and watch Alty’… but I’m a City fan, I don’t give a shit about Maine Road FC or any other local team. Couldn’t even tell you what MR’s kit looks like, anything about their history, not even sure what league they’re.

We can’t let the club fuck us off from City. City is ours, not our boardroom’s. Our boardroom are just temporary employees. They’ll be long gone before I ever am.
Tongue in cheek mate. Like you, I’m not going anywhere and us City fans will win. They’ve poked the beast, they really don’t know our fanbase do they. Nice one blue. CTWD

Why?

I am not a supporter of Maine Rd FC.

so would be a hollow gesture from me and disrespectful towards this old local club, personally if I was a MRFC fan I wouldn't want those going as a gimmick at my games
It was a pisstake mate:) we were there before them and we will be there when they go. Cheers blue

The point is, we all stick together blue. At some point, we need to dig in and fight back. Bigger picture.

It is a business though as well mate? Players like Haaland and maybe 2 or 3 other world stars in the summer don’t come cheap? Of course they want people buying food and drink at the stadium and going in the club shop!? There is also people like me and my family who live on the Isle of Man who don’t have season tickets so have to pay hospitality when we come over, flights, accommodation and will spend more time at the ground when we are there for the experience? There has to be a balance to the legacy fan who doesn’t spend at the stadium, doesn’t buy merchandise but wants all the perks?

I agree with everything you say apart from the last sentence, should a tourist/day tripper, who I don't have an issue with, unless they wear an half n half scarf :) get the same perks as a loyal match going fan, I don't think they should, we've put hard yards in, through the ups and downs of which there's been many ( you may have done this, I don't know ) loyalty is being ignored by the club and fans are starting to feel a disconnect between them and the club.

The protests have to start somewhere and at some point.

Nobody is expecting 10,000's of City fans to stay on the concourse. Our support is to passive for that at the moment.

But it's better to do something and to protest, rather than do nothing.

If the Directors don't start listening to the fans, and start treating the fabs properly the protests will grow.

Asking people who have paid to watch the game not to watch the game because the 1894 group have decided that's how they want to protest isn't going to be very effective in its self. It may be the start of something bigger, but they protest needs more consultation and coordination with the ordinary supporter who, after all, this is all about.

Telling people not to watch the game even for 9 minutes is a big step and I don't think they've really thought this through. It risks of driving a wedge between watchers and non-watchers which is a poor start to something that needs mass, collective backing.

I sympathise with 1894 etc as it's in the main an impossible task, but at least they are trying something.
If we look at our neighbours, we've laughed at their recent protests (different issues granted) but fundamentally the same problem in that these boardrooms etc are tone deaf and will generally face down any disquiet.
The only thing that will make them sit up and take notice is when it hits them in the pocket, or the message has a serious impact on the brand.
Again, look at 1958 - banners, late walk ins, marches from the toll gate achieved nothing, but storming the stadium and getting the game called off got so much more exposure and would have financially hit the club.
Bring on storming the stadium or pitch invasions (as long as I don't have to wear zebra pants !!!)

1894 mentioned they sent an email out to members yesterday. Protests have to start somewhere.

Boycotting 9mins of a game to stop your season ticket going up £50-£100 next year or making sure future generations of your family can afford to watch City seems like a decent trade off.

People are never going to agree but you have to start somewhere!

You're saying it's too harsh, others in this thread alone are saying it's not enough, some have said boycott the match, some have said walk out on 60. 9mins is a start.

It's took the threat of fan action now to arrange an emergency meeting on ticketing, 7 weeks after a fan letter that they didn't bother responding too.

Manchester City has today announced a new global partnership with viagogo, the world’s leading ticket marketplace, to give fans around the world new opportunities to access and experience live men’s and women’s matches.
Like Big Steve said its a proper kick in the bollocks for the local City fans.

It's easy to stay on the concourse for 9 minutes after the game has started.

Drink your beer slower.

I’m not sure what you’re expecting? Mass walk outs perhaps. Being realistic something like that won’t happen straight away.

It’s building up to something like that. From your reply it’s either go all out straight away or do nothing?

This could make a massive difference or it might not do anything. It’s worth trying at least and better than doing nothing

Like Big Steve said its a proper kick in the bollocks for the local City fans.

After reading all the different fan complaint threads on Blue Moon, City do read the threads apparently, the directors were talking to Viagogo and signing up the biggest and most notorious ticket touting website.
