Roll call for 9 minute protest

Right, i think i'm up to speed now.
You've bought a ticket for the game and your 'protest' is, going to the game?
What’s the alternative though? Don’t go to the game? give up your season ticket? Just accept it?

Lots of fan protests are held during the match. This might not do anything, but it’s worth a try

No, the protest is to stay out of the stands for a few minutes as a visual protest that is clearly identified by the CEO, the Chairman, the media etc.

Being against this is the lowest IQ shit possible. THIS BENEFITS YOU. If the fan groups are successful, YOU pay less aswell not just them. On what planet does actively wanting to pay more make sense?

Or perhaps you've become so pointlessly cynical like Eccles Blue that the very notion that you might be able to effect change in the world is a foreign idea. That's why Peter Swales is still in charge
Just Stop Oil..

I am not “pointlessly cynical”. I agree there should be a protest just that the timing is wrong!! A mass walk out at 30 minutes would be more effective. IMHO
Don’t condemn people out of hand please.

Leaving a big yawning gap in the seats will simply give the 'empty seats, can't fill your ground' morons something to point at.
The CEO won't care because you've already handed over your money to get in.

Exactly!!

The bean counters don't give a fuck who is sat in that seat. Wether it's a far eastern tourist with his/her half n half scarf and iPad. Or a local supporter that lives over the road.

The only time they will realise is IF (and I don't see it happening anytime soon) our success falls off the scale.

We are a huge global brand and lots of football fans want to be associated with us.

Fair play to the fans trying to get their point across, but personally I think it's a fruitless task.

Tough. I’m entitled to my opinion. I’ve been on enough protests in my lifetime to know well organised and ones that will be successful. Sorry @Damocles I respect your postings in the main but that one I have to disagree with. :-)
So what you're saying is that you're not going to join a protest that will benefit you because you think it might not work?
So?
What are you losing out on here? This is Pascal's wager in the simplest form. There is not only no benefit to you in refusing to participate but your refusal actively hurts the cause.
And what if you're wrong? What if actually it would have made a difference but you just didnt bother?
It's 9 minutes. Nobody is asking you to donate your house here, they (and when I say they I mean every single Manchester City fan group from the 1894 to the Foodbank to the Disabled Association) are asking you to be leisurely when going to your seat.

And how is this "badly organised"

Recently @Tim of the Oak said that in his opinion, the club won't ever address the ticketing issues because despite the groups and associations raising them as a concern, ultimately they know that a lot of fans don't give a shit and won't bother to protest.

I think he's wrong but your excuses aren't exactly filling me with hope.

You think that a club owned by an Abu Dhabi royal doesn't appreciate the importance of PR?

And "don't try and improve things because people might laugh at us" is a genuinely pathetic ideal.

Let me make this even clearer, this isn't like the protest outside the Colin Bell stand. I'm sure people would love you to attend but you being there probably won't make a huge difference. Here though, you refusing to participate isn't a neutral choice. It actively hurts those protesting.
Who are protesting for your benefit.

Myself and Daughter will be staying away from the game completely.

I understand fans going to the game to support Pep and the players and getting behind the team.

My personal opinion I'd prefer if fans just didn't go to the game at all, It would make a huge statement if the ground was more or less empty for the entire game.

Either way let's hope its a start of things to come with fans sticking together on this subject.

I didn’t actually say I was against doing it. You really shouldn’t condemn one person especially as I wouldn’t make that much difference. But as I won’t be attending due to ill health I wish you luck in your endeavours. I’d love to be able to join in another protest to finish off my life of rebellion!!
Good luck @Damocles I hope you succeed.

By the way I didn’t read the whole of the posting. I have a life that I need to live. :-)

You have 21 thousand posts on here, that's a lie.

I have a benefactor who kindly gave me a ticket and I don't want that kind benefactor to feel any backlash from the club by me attending a protest that I certainly have strong feelings about and could very well voice.

I don't trust the club, not one single iota.

They can't ban someone for not going to their seat for a few minutes mate
