Bournemouth (A) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

If anybody had any doubt the fuckers are biased against us their official website posted this.

Pretty big win in the context of the season, pep looked pretty hyped up after the win as well.

Good game overall and nice to see Nico making the difference.

Last chance of a trophy is why. I've no idea why Nico can't get a place either in midfield or at left back.

I'm no football tactician so I've no idea if this is right or not, but I thought it was an interesting read ....

Bad first half, lacklustre and plodding.
Second half more measured and controlled, also seemed more focused.

O'Reilly proving again why he deserves a chance to be a regular consideration.

Wemberly, wemberly we're the famous Manchester City
O'Reilly only a regular consideration? Regular starter please. Pep's team selections (even allowing for injuries) have sucked big time. Now he has a real gem - don't waste him Pep.

Shit first half. Absolutely insane to think the subs that changed the game were forced as well. If Khusanov doesn't get booked and if Haaland doesn't get injured, Pep doesn't make those changes. Good second half, driven by three lads who haven't had a look-in recently and won't get another look-in for weeks. Marmoush with the killer goal, Grealish putting his body on the line to hold the ball, O'Reilly turning that left wing into his kingdom. What does Pep have against them? Grealish and O'Reilly in particular.
What a brilliant post, youngbob. The changes were indeed forced. You ask what does Pep have against certain players? Perhaps it's because he tends to have favourites. Rico Lewis being the prime example but there are others.

Subs changed it but he only made them due to a yellow card & an injury which is a worry

Bournemouth were piss poor. Forest much harder.

Big win & glad for Jack & oReilly who must start from now on
Mahmoush & mcatee looked rusty
We need erl back asap
"he only made them due to a yellow card & an injury which is a worry" Yes, a big worry. O'Reilly would probably not have come on without that yellow card and we might have been out of the cup. I just hope that both O'Reilly AND Khusi start together from now on. But I am worried that they won't.

Second half performance of O’Reilly really does provoke more questions about Pep’s insistence on experience over youth.

Although not faultless O’Reilly provided some of the physicality and athleticism that has been missing all season.
I agree. Apart from Pep's misguided faith in Rico Lewis, he does seem to insist on experience over youth. That said, apart from O'Reilly, we don't seem to have the same quality of youths that teams like Arsenal have. Not sure why.

When Erling's penalty was saved, I thought that was it.

It was going to be one of those days, and Bournemouth would triumph.

Oh me of little faith. Never discount Pep's ability to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Bring on Nico to give us width, pace, drive and an element of surprise AFC Bournemouth hadn’t expected.

A brilliant half of football from the young man.

Well done Pep. And Nico.

Mainly becos we’ve sold them all. An England pre World Cup squad of 30 would have at least 4 grads we’ve sold to others: Palmer, H-Bellis, Lavia, Rodgers.
Recently the U18s showed we have a youngster or two

But to be honest, that rabbit was one that many on here have been calling for, for a long time.

Including before this actual match.
As ever (in the context of this season) we won't know whether it's another false dawn until the next match.

Hopefully, feels a bit different this time, because of the way we picked up, instead of dropping off?

I was nervous before the match and, when I saw the team I thought we were short on legs against one of the most energetic, pressing teams in the PL. I now wonder whether our "veterans" had benefitted from the international break to recharge their batteries. I also think that Bournemouth are feeling the length of the season and that their high energy approach has had to slow in the face of the number of games played, the size of the squad and the knocks, niggles and injuries that are a feature of final stage of the PL season. In other words, what ripped the heart out of our season from November onwards. In truth City should have had the game won, done and dusted in the first half hour - but were one down. Our dominance grew as the match progressed - Bournemouth didn't have a shot after the 38th minute. A good performance, a good win - but how long will it last?

As others have said just now, I think it was more having his hand forced rather than some bold tactical brainwave

Unless they get a chance we will never know....I can't believe we haven't got a specialised right back in one of our youth teams who would surely be better than a makeshift Nunes.......It's what our rivals do
