They could nip this in the bid by simply engaging with fan representative groups properly. Organise with City Matters a proper set of meetings about what the core fans of this club want and how we’re feeling about everything around ticketing.

From a City Matters point of view this kind of action does make a difference. One of the difficulties of CM is trying to communicate with a large number of fans. Other than the emails we receive and this forum/social media it can be difficult to demonstrate to the club a strength of feeling on certain issues.

If nothing else, we have a meeting on Thursday and being able to point to something like a protest to evidence the general dissatisfaction about the club's ticketing policy lends weight to our arguments.

What I'd like to know isn't so much what are the complaints which we see all the time on here and different people have different veiws on what they don't like, but when City Matters go to this ,or other, meetings is what they are asking the club to do, and what they realisticlly expect the club to accept and think achievable.
Do CM post ot publish this anywhere ?

I agree, we don't want a damp squib but it's likely that just a few thousand will join in leaving 45000 or so still in the stadium. Turning out backs would get around 50000 assuming corporate don't join in. So when fans come in on the 9th minute stay silent and everybody turn their backs for a minute. This will have a big impact.

We've got a growing fanbase and this season we've got one group expressing hostility to another, whereas what we should be doing is focusing on ticket prices. Have City's fan groups looked at the survey results and just chosen the populist topic around which to demonstrate to the club some strength of feeling? That's what it sounds like.

He is having difficulty trying to understand the difference between a City fan and a tourist (A daytripper not a person who supports City but is just there for the day).

In short he's inferring that it's racist to suggest that supporting City fans over people who aren't City fans is somehow populist, in effect it's being fucking sly.

If just going into the game 9 minutes late helps the City matters group just put across how peed off we all are then it's a good thing. I hope with all the publicity around this it will make a difference. We can only try.

Personally, and I've told the club this repeatedly, the issues we've seen this season are as a result of the short-term approach to ticketing over the last few years.

The effect of offering no new season tickets is beginning to be felt as people are finding they can't get a season ticket for their kids or grandkids or are having to rely on the inferior "flexi" gold.

Add in the increases in season tickets, the ludicrous match day prices and "all games on sale" (which artifically creates demand at the start of the season turning it into a bunfight) have meant many blues have fell out of the the habit of attending. So when we have these midweek games against one of the less "glamourous" there demand isn't there anymore.

The club need to decide what is important, short term profits or maintaining the clubs long term supporters and supporting the new generation of match going fans.

It most certainly is, a few on here can''t seem to bring themselves to support other City fans. Populist is a strange term to use.

Ian Cheeseman made a good point on his latest podcast Forever Blue @ 53:40 onwards where he witnessed a protest at a Schalke 04 game. The whole crowd, even the away fans at that game stayed silent until 19:04 mins of the game.

We all support city at the end of the day, and even if you're not fully onboard, this will eventually affect everybody and to show solidarity for 9 mins of one game would truly drive home the message to the powers that be.

The protest will be pointless. Most match days there are thousands of fans not in their seats at kick-off in either half of the game anyway. It will not be noticeable to anyone.

Only outcome will be that whoever's egotistical idea it was can say "that was my idea, look some people did what I said".

Oh also, the rag papers might pick up on it but report it as how even city fans don't like the Arabs. Just what we need with the 115 announcement due imminently.

But keep patting yourselves on the back for saving the common man.

How about just turn up and stay to the end, support your team and actually make some fucking noise rather than blaming tourists for a bad atmosphere.

Queue a barrage of insults from the usual suspects because someone doesn't agree with the hysteria being whipped up....

Thanks, yes I did know that but had forgotton and not looked for a long time. Was thinking more of something from yourselves I know you can't post what was discussed other than the minutes but would it be possible before a meeting to post what it is you are asking for. Just as an example the new S/C thing, obviously the club aren't going to accept the extension be all S/C (I wouldn't want that anyway) so it would be unreasonable asking for it , so is there a figure you have in mind that you think would be acceptable. Just that sort of thing really.

This question generated the 2nd most unanimous response (the other being on the accessibility of season tickets). 1894 motivated this question by reference to away fans and tourists (these tickets could literally end up in the hands of anyone). It's obvious that this is can be a divisive issue.

The protest should be about ticket prices.

We've not got close to discussing that yet mate, they'll likely have a figure in mind but until I know what the club are thinking I'd not be willing to share my thoughts on a public forum.

It appears that City fan groups took one of the top answers from their survey, and organised a protest around it, without any thought to an underlying problem which some people have been agitating about for months: season ticket holders vs 'tourists'.

I don't think anyone, including the club, want to see away fans in the home end? I'm not sure that's contentious or divisive.

I also don't think anyone would deny that the club has less control over where tickets end up if they are using re-sellers, given the club are less able to do their own checks if they aren't arranging the sale.
