President Trump

What’s the significance of that, pal?

Fox were well ahead of them in the build-up to the election.

Any of you Americans on here - is there any unbiased news agency over there?

Unbiassed?

Most of them have a political slant except for perhaps NPR. MSNBC and CNN are fairly well factual most of the time. MSNBC being Left leaning and CNN becoming more and more Right leaning.

OANN and Fox are downright propaganda networks for the political Right and Extreme Right.

That's a question that someone who believes some of the "they're all fake news" would answer as a serious question.

All media streams have bias influenced by their ownership and paymasters.

There was a lot of conversation on these threads about dropping viewership for MSNBC and CNN and other perceived-leftward-leaning outlets right after the election. As such the comparison with recent data is easy so perhaps that's why the doubling but my takeaway is that perhaps Trump dislikers are either re-engaging or doom-watching.

I deal with the media just about weekly in my job, largely the business press though sometimes more mainstream outlets or large local news outlets. I do mostly print, occasionally broadcast. In my experience the Associated Press has historically been the most "just the facts"-oriented (which is why Trump booting them was so strange in my eyes). Often it comes down to the reporter though as opposed to the outlet itself. If I am misquoted or my quotes are taken out of context I usually stop interacting with the reporter regardless of the outlet.

Edit: I should also mention Reuters, though I don't talk to them much because they are usually on very tight deadlines and don't do discursive work as much -- more quick facts/instant reaction stuff.

As noted above, I personally would say AP, though many of the business press I talk to are pretty down the middle. I probably have 1 reporter I speak with nearly every month, 3-4 once a quarter and a half dozen 1-2 times a year so its not like I am that in the know, especially on any topic other than my field of specialty.

This is just Vegas - if you look on YT there are loads of clips from US tv news echoing the same - its not just Canadians its ICE detaining European visitors because they look dodgy and ruining planned holidays - around places like Niagara its reported to be a ghost town - some Canadians travelled cross border to shop - not any more. Duty Free shops are barely registering a sale - this is not sustainable if he hopes to maintain support - pariah state

I find the fact that this not so subtle boycott of the US and US goods was seemingly over looked by Trump and his administration. Europe's economy alone is surely way more important to the US than tin pot Russia's. Add in Canada and Japan into the equation and the whole thing looks very silly and naive at best.

just watching one of his sycophants on newsnight effectively saying that tariffs are good and are not inflationary - they either have convinced themselves OR they are thick that if you slap a tariff on say BMW's then Germany pays the tariff. Furthermore they think that BMW will just move say 5 series production to the USA. The reality is the on/off nature of Trumps tariff moods mean they cannot commit to a huge tariff beating investment in a US plant if he drops them next year making it a huge white elephant. In any event the idea a plant can be built from scratch and a workforce be trained in assembly before the next GE is fanciful and finally any plant will be an assembly plant using parts made elsewhere so that will be hit by tariff's anyway - its industrially illiterate and like all populist ideas looks easy on paper but suffocates when it meets the real atmosphere - see Brexit for details

And which Tory leader would have spoken out against Trump?
Just as a question of balance.

You can only go back as far as when Trump became a political entity so the answer is none. I suspect pre-politics and with what I have seen had he been political earlier Sir John Major would have had no truck with the fucker but its a good few years since the Tory Party had a non-craven leader

BREAKING: Senator Cory Booker is still speaking on the Senate floor for his 24th straight hour, now attacking Trump for a multitude of serious things.

“We’re hearing from people that are appalled that their nation bullies smaller nations like Canada or Greenland. We’re hearing from people that are shocked at what they’re doing to the most vulnerable people who come to our nation who have American children being disappeared form our streets that have no criminal record. We’re hearing from people who don’t think it’s right that the President should have a memecoin that allows him to enrich himself
