The coverage in the media on the protest was all about viagogo and ticket reselling because of the press statements to the club. The Guardian match report said, "Those who waited until nine minutes to take their seat in protest at City partnering with Viagogo, a ticket resale site, missed Grealish’s opener". Match of the Day also referenced it as a protest about Viagogo. It would have been better to emphasise ticket pricing.

I want fans from other communities and countries to be welcome at City. I also watched Ian Cheeseman's Forever Blue vlog. He interviews a lot of fans before the game on the protest including a couple from America and they supported the protest I believe but were made to feel bad about it. I hope City fans who organise these protests ensure that the messaging is for all supporters and not just about protecting 'core groups'. Some of the protest publicity aimed at the media claimed that 'City fans were becoming a minority in their own stadium' etc. Protesting is important but so is he politics.

you believe they were made to feel bad about it?

What a big pile of shite!!!

I am not posting Cheesy's vlog in reply because it is unfair to focus on 2 people who are American City fans. They were asked about the protest and fooball tourism. I like Cheesy's vlogs but I think the questions were unfair on them because although they are in one sense football tourists because they came from America, tourists is a term for fans who are not interested in City but just the occasion. They were clearly big City fans and I am glad they saw us win. The interview though did illustrate a problem with the tourism argument.

No it absolutely wouldn’t. I was seeing a girl about 20 years ago who used to be an air stewardess with Virgin and one of her former colleagues was shagging him for years behind his wife’s back. He was an absolute dog by all accounts, so no it wouldn’t be a massive stretch.

Like you say though, not seen anything worthwhile to verify it.

Broken boring record

he interviews non UK based city fans every game.

infact i pulled him on it a few months back and asked why, is he seemingly always interviewing the day trippers etc.

Last nights wasn't in anyway bad towards teh two american fans. Infact I am certain the bloke was a Brit but his wife was American and they were over for his brothers wedding

I have no idea how the club allows the BBC in, let along let hi, ask questions.
See also on the BBC site, they posted about Chelsea losses and selling the women's team to itself but didn't bother opening comments, I think you could safely say comments would be open if we did the same
I reckon Chelsea have had a stern word, probably backed up by legal threats.

Aren't Chelsea now owned by Americans ?
The curse of Abramovitch has now been removed, so "creative accounting" by Chelsea now seems to be allowed or even encouraged.
Wait until the "Trafford Big Top"gets built to see how dubious financial management is manipulated.
The Failsworth Faker will no doubt come out of it in profit...

The Tourist label is a "Red Herring" used often out of context.
Some City fans pay the the price of a Season Ticket to attend one match.
Easy targets, no voice to offer a different argument, better stop there.

If anybody is interested I was at the Andre Rieu concert at Co-op Live this evening and Neil Custis was sat in the seat behind me with his dad. At half time he got talking to the bloke sat next to his dad. This is what I heard.
  • He has been reporting on the Scum for 26 years.
  • They are the worst Scum team he has seen in all that time.
  • He thinks Ratcliffe is a bloody idiot.
  • The Scum will not finish in the top 4 for at least 5 years.
  • He was so bored with the 1999 CL Final he left before the end.
I am not making this up, it actually happened.

P.S. - He thinks Manchester is a truly great city.

He's recently been in hospital after a very bad fall which left him a serious way.

He's always in the Fletcher Moss in Didsbury with his dog, which is very cute tbf. A labradoodle if I remember correctly.

Nice positive article on the Academy in the DM today from Jack Gaughan. Not sure if this is the right place to post it but I couldn't see a "General Chat" thread in the Academy Forum, it all seemed to be about specific players and matches. Feel free to re-post where appropriate.

Un-paywalled article here: Access all areas in Man City's world-leading academy: JACK GAUGHAN reveals the secrets of their success including AI, basketball and strict rules on phones, socks and boots
Interesting read that. Cheers for posting :)

Good article. I liked the end, where he reported that it is the responsibility of all players to make sure if 20 balls go out, 20 must come back in. I spent 40 years being the one who goes and gets ball numbers 19 and 20.

Edit. At local football, not at City.

Well he's well wrong on point 5 - I found it thoroughly enjoyable until the far inferior team fluked a couple of chances.............

Neil Custis a PROPPER piss head. Used to chat with him in Didsbury in the bad old rag glory days. He could get a bit sarcastic but would get a full volley back from me. Always insisted he was a Newcastle fan but always backed the rags in a discussion.
