my retirement plan included a transfer of funds from my S&S ISA to a cash ISA over a period of a few years, a plan already royally fucked by the shitgibbon, and now made even more difficult by these proposals. It seems as I reach my dotage that I'll be left with the choice of low returns and tax on safe cash savings, or the higher risk of keeping the money in stocks and shares, albeit reducing the risk by moving to so called safer investments.

The latter of course contrary to all advice on what to do with your money as you reach retirement age. Fucked by both sides of the atlantic in the same week, impressive really

I wouldn’t bet on the dollar retaining its position as the world’s reserve currency. It’s no coincidence that the price of gold is hitting record highs on an almost daily basis.

It’s not inconceivable that we could be returning to the gold standard such is the stupidity of the fools managing the US economy. Not good for anyone but potentially less bad than depending on the dollar being a stable currency.
