Cos the gasworks hasn't been there for ages. - Could call it the Railway End I suppose. Why not call the north stand "THE GASWORKS END"

There are Kop Stands at Elland Road and Hillsborough, among others and I doubt if any are on Kop Road/Street/Avenue.When liverpool were planning a new stadium under hicks and gillet they had a stand called the kop in it. The kop as it is now, isn't on Kop Road. It's on Walton Breck Road.
Stands can have a couple of names as well you know. One official and one for marketing purposes for the fans. Its not unheard of. And you pointed one out at our stadium - The Colin Bell Stand.
The kop like all kops the one in dortmund, hillsborough, Notts County, spurs etc are named after a hill in sputh africaWhen liverpool were planning a new stadium under hicks and gillet they had a stand called the kop in it. The kop as it is now, isn't on Kop Road. It's on Walton Breck Road.

Where Alan Turing Way is now, there used to be a proper road called Forge Lane. Would have been behind the east side of the stadium. What is the meaning of the forge?

Why was the Platt Lane stand named as such when it was nowhere near Platt Lane?Because the Etihad is nowhere near Kippax Street. Of its time - went hand-in-hand with Maine Road - wouldn't feel right at the Etihad. Also, with Maine Road being a patchwork of mismatched stands, the Kippax was instantly recognisable. With the clean lines and uniformity of the Etihad, no stand really stands out.

Now it's just that little stretch of road behind the Co-op Live Arena, as you drive through to Sportcity Way.
Here's a photograph from the early 1900s. This bridge, the Forge Lane Bridge as it was once called, is now the entrance to Phillips Park.

We’re already doing that with the South and North expansions.Let's do a proper job and get the old haphazard mis match style roofs going on

Gail? Why was the Platt Lane stand named as such when it was nowhere near Platt Lane?
The definitive answer. There's only one Kippax stand, and it's not at the Etihad, remember the great times and memories, don't try and recreate that again, it was unique, the Etihad has created enough of its own memories.
I'm not one for renaming it the Kippax, but I'm not sure the East stand 'captures the imagination of modern fans around the globe'? Either.Six pages in and no one has said that maybe it's because the owners are focused on the world-wide appeal of their (our?) club and think that "Kippax" doesn't capture the imagination of modern fans around the globe.
I think there was a similar debate about why beloved old Bert only got a statue, of sorts, and not a stand.
As the ground was Maine road, you would not noally name a stand after a road too I expect, so though thorton rd ws right behind it the next nearest non road is platt lane. Why was the Platt Lane stand named as such when it was nowhere near Platt Lane?
