United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Passion is the word .... and lack of, by both Manchester teams. The Derby doesn't mean anything now to the "Manchester" teams....it's just another fixture for both . Whilst the fans dual banter all year long and spend good money, the desire by the footballers just isn't there. It's littered with international mercenaries and the odd Manc who has thrown the towel in swamped by big money signings.
They're too pally with each other nowadays for their to be any needle. Just another sorry tale of today's shit sanitised product

Alvarez is 25, only a year younger than Marmoush. I believe ww sold

Alvarez only a year younger than Marmoush. And tbf, Alvarez has been out of form since the WC. He's form hasn't picked up yet either, after playing 80 mins for Atlético Madrid every game. We got paid well and he didn't wanted to be on the bench and demanded transfer. It was fair to release him. Bobb will fill the Alvarez gap when he's playable again..
Oh i know why we leet him go...I dont blame anyone for that....the player or the club

But Marmoush doesnt look as good as Alvarez as an out an out goal scorer at present...better from outwide and better than Alvarez outwide as well

People are putting a lot of pressure on Bobb...it seems that its the normal thing that when a payer is missing for a long period of time he just gets better and better....Bobb has huge potential but thats all at present...we cant rely on him as that is too mich pressure for a youngl player who has barely played any minutes at first team level...

The counterfactual is that with another manager and all the injuries we could be in the bottom half of the table or worse.
You cannot make an argument up with hypotheticals, whatever the situation we shouldn't be scraping around for 5th and plying absolute horse shit football with it

Passionless. We weren’t good enough at all. No bollocks, no desire and no idea.

Yeah we have some aging players in the squad, we have some burned out players too, but it’s the manager that keeps picking them and he sets them up. His zero-risk ball retention strategy looks dated, stale, ineffective and fucking boring…

We never, ever roll the dice. That was utter piss today against another dreadful side and plenty saw it coming. What do we think we’ll achieve playing like this?

Frustration and bewilderment. They are shite and we let them equal us.

If we play like that Palace will roll us over next weekend.

High risk high return they say

Pep was not willing to take risk, he wanted more possession and he got what he wanted.
Do we all think he's too loyal to some players due to all the success they've brought us ? Cos surely he can see not just in training but in games that kova , gundo, bernie and kdb are not what they were ? What was the point in spending so much in Jan if they cant get regular playing time ?

What has Pep done THIS season that makes you think he is the right man. Wrong selections, wrong tactics, wrong recruitment and a repeat of the same mistakes every single week. Wenger had a shelf life, Jose had a shelf life, sometimes it happens with managers. I hope it isn't the end for Pep obviously but what has he provided this season to give you any confidence. He has given us the best years of our lives and you are right, the next manager won't bring the same levels but sometimes change is for the best
With a huge injury list and players at the end of their careers who are not easily replaced

Pep has admitted he has made mistakes in the make up of the squad -but that isnt all on him.

What provides me with the confidence is that even now Pep is the best out there...he knows the club inside out and he knows the players he has just arent capable anymore....the fact that he has already said it was partly his decision to let KDB go says to me he knows the refresh.is needed .....if he is willing to say this about KDB he also knows it about the other ones.

We collectively tightened our sphincters from 75 to 90, PTSD from the Etihad December game

Yep, Mental scars of blowing leads and throwing points away this season.
The game was there to win today, but with our luck this season something would have happened at the other end

We settled for the point, but the truth is we were not brave enough and needed the point, Would Pep have taken the draw before kick-off, answers on a postcard, please

Someone’s had a beer

It's a sad state of affairs that there are some posters who think we have to play negatively to get a result against that version of the Rags. A view also shared by Pep apparently.

Teams like Palace and Brighton have won at the Swamp this season by playing positive attacking football. There'a no reason why we couldn't have done the same.

I don't think a point is a good result at all. We'll be sixth this time tomorrow.

Think we would be all better off accepting the reality of our current plight.

Nothing can change now until the summer market opens.

The injuries have done us.

The demise of some players has done us.

Recruitment has done us.

Pep staying or going has done us.

115/130 has done us.

Mental fortitude has finally left us.

Thats a lot of shit going wrong.

Overall we are doing ok.

I don’t like the abuse of legends. It’s crass.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I commend Pep for calling out the Trafford fans for their despicable chanting about Foden’s Mum.
It’s a game of football for goodness sake not a war. Chant about the game, chant the players names. Sing the good songs but leave the families alone. :-)
I take it you don't know 'posh spice is a slapper' and 'Kneville family' songs (amongst others) that we sing to wind them up?

If he has admitted mistakes then I am pretty sure that is on him. Playing kdb gundog bernardo and kovacic repeatedly together is on him. If he knows they aren't capable why is he persisting with them? Why is refusing to play with any pace, energy or direction? KDB time is up yet he played him and started him again today, what message does that send. We bought players in Jan who aren't getting a look in, they are the apparent future of the club. Not the old guard. Your post doesn't do anything to defend Pep, it highlights his errors of the season more

I said earlier in the thread Pep is still being loyal to the players that have been successful for him over the years, Personally I think that needs to change.

We signed a holding midfielder in January, Yet he doesn't play him regularly and we still go into games without a holding midfielder, I wouldn't class Kovavic as a holding midfielder as he's not one to sense danger.

Grealish was our best player against Leicester and chipping in with a goal, Today he's dropped, Surely that's completely soul destroying for him.

Doku has been our main threat over the last few weeks, Possibly our best player some would argue, He's also on the bench today along with Savinho.

We've players on the bench that's well able to cover ground, Also that can hurt teams whether it's by counter attack or a low block and they didn't get the nod today.

Pep played for a draw that's the disappointing part, He was happy to kick the can down the road and fight another day.

Load of bollocks that. Easy in hindsight but why persist with Bernardo, he has zero goal threat and is physically piss weak. Kovacic, zero goal threat. Gundogan, offers nothing these days.

Nunes just not good enough, never has been. Especially at fullback, he’s a midfielder. Why not Khusanov at right back?

And why didn’t Savinho even come off the bench?

Fucking hell we don’t half need a reset and a huge transfer outlay on quality this summer. No more fucking squad fillers or old men or slow as fuck plodders.
