Jacob Wright | Joins Norwich City (pg 9)

Good post. According to bluebrain whose detailed analysis is on the internet, since Pep took over we have made c£400m from academy or young player sales.
Our owners and Pep have always said that the aim was to get four of this category of player into the first team squad so that appears to be working.
Would anyone on this thread be happier if we had given more chance to players in our our own youth system and won less trophy’s?
If I was a promising youngster, their parent or agent I would jump at the chance of joining us as our track record of developing youth is second to none.
Take away the sentiment and the academy is a money mill for the club and a useful stepping stone for the kids. A pretty soulless enterprise but this is business.

Looks a very good move, especially with us signing Nico Gonzales as cover for Rodri. Chances of a home grown pivot pretty much vanished. Hopefully he can turn it into permanent transfer and kick on.
I disagree I think we should not be sold to Norwich or anyone else. Stay at City and learn from the master Rodri!! Think he will develop into a cracking player and with all the comings and going’s he should get some minutes!!!

If he got dec nt minutes I agree, but the club letting him go and buying Nico Gonzalez suggest he may not. On that basis I think Norwich playing style and pathway could be a good move. Always hard to say though what’s best

He's only played 375 minutes since signing, how likely are Norwich to want to sign him?
Not been following his games there but he did only join in February and has been involved in all 10 league games so far. 4 starts and 1 game where he didn't get off the bench.

Admittedly, he's not finished 90 minutes yet, the nearest was being subbed on 82m but from transfermarkt he was booked 4m earlier so perhaps smart management.

We know that City are going to do all they can to help in terms of transfer fee (or even lack of), just covering ourselves with sell-ons probably.

The fact that he can't break in to a team that's won 1 in 10 probably indicates he isn't playing great when he gets minutes though. They may still take.a punt at the quoted 2m.

Will help he's pushing for the move and reportedly refusing a new contract here.

We've seen with Pep though, that when a team isn't working they'll often move back to experience and it's the kids who get left out.

Think this would be a good move for him long term. Norwich are established as Championship level at worst, and usually play decent football at that level.

A few of the chaps at my local Cardiac Rehab gym class rate him and hope he signs for Norwich.

IIRC he signed with some mega agency soon after his cup appearance last year. Quite within his rights of course but did cross my mind that a move could well follow.

Reading reports from Norwich supporters and it seems Wright was man of the match tonight . Really impressed with him. Ok it’s the Championship but he’s only 19 and wonder if he’s another we’ll let slip through the net. Incidentally Callum Doyle doing well too.

"Let slip through the net," or potentially have to sell due to the punitive ramifications of PSR requirements for academy graduates at Premier League clubs?

Did they say where he played, flashscores had him at right back?
