US Tariff War

I think she’s pretty smart. Thinks very quickly on her feet. She does however lie and shill for her boss with absolutely zero integrity which would indicate a huge character flaw. She will do anything for the fame and money, pretty much in line with the whole Republican Party.
Did you see the Beauty Contest clip?
“Smart” is not the first word that comes to mind!

America is an economic empire in decline. They can either accept that reality gracefully or decide to take China on.
The latter will be economic suicide.
Someone had take-away for dinner tonight and enjoyed his fortune cookie!

"Critics argue that this method is flawed..." If that's the AI view based on the previous paragraphs, that proves AI is flawed! A really smart AI would say, "This is total bullshit".
I said that at the outset, but he thought I was being a meanie!

Miller is fucking insane - does he understand the KEI car concept? Does he fuck.

I know I'm probably not meant to understand his overly simplistic logic, but it really does make no sense at all to me.

Why would the Japanese want to buy inferior cars not designed to meet the needs of their market? And even if they did, there are only 124 million of them versus 340 million in the U.S., so of course they're going to buy less.

In the real world, you balance trade by offering something else attractive in return, not by insisting that we all buy the exact same amount of each product off one another. It's the logic of a 5 year old and would inevitably lead to trade collapsing even without the imposition of tariffs.

How is he going to make us buy, will importers suddenly start buying their shite chicken, I know I won’t. If we start dropping our standards on safety on cars where does that lead? Someone on here argued with me he didn’t pay for his upgraded iPhones, well with a 104% tariff I guarantee that ain’t happening anymore, there won’t be any! China will stop selling precious metals etc, that will be Trumps green light to invade Greenland, although it will be years before anything is mined.

Trump will try to insist they do “make up” payments in things like American soy beans, beef, and corn…things they can’t really grow there. The Japanese might be able to use some of that, but most American food stuffs are not needed, and American beef is very different to theirs, so…

Last time, Trump paid farmers billions of dollars in lost income due to tariffs placed on American crops. We’ll see this time.

Regardless, it will be TRUMPeted as a great victory for America that has Made America Great Again.

Lastly, wouldn’t it be nice if someone in the media would actually ask the hard, pointed questions of these morons instead of dancing around the topic?!

Seen a fair few BBC and Sky journalists ask them direct strong questions - they just double down, get angry and make nonsensical statements.

Sadly, I don’t get to hear much of that unless I’m overseas, which is where I can watch actual BBC & Sky News.

It’s all a fucking goat rope and the sooner people rise up against him and his naked Emperor’s agenda, the better. Republicans have shown themselves to be weak, feckless sycophants and cult members whose hypocrisy knows no bounds and whose ability to twist reality is their only serious quality,

The US essentially saying we're not importing stuff would logically affect non US stock markets negatively as in the companies that comprise them will see sales down.

The Dow will be less affected.

But in real life the US will suffer from product scarcity which means a price hike and ultimately worse off consumers.

Meanwhile elsewhere there will be a glut of unsold products which should lead to price drops.

This is the short term. After a while China et al will cut back on production. Resulting in unemployment.

Whilst the US will have to increase theirs. So they'll have to reverse their immigration policy. Also increased production will require increased investment which may not be on the cards if the US has isolated itself.

The non US economies will have to organise more trade amongst themselves.

All this takes time.

Three pronged strategy (1) deny access to anyone who has the temerity to question them (2) if any of them do get through bulldoze them with lies and predefined 'fake news/enemy of the people' attack responses (3) put financial/legal squeeze on said outlets whenever the opportunity arises to drain them of resources and the will to fight back.

The ideal scenario for them is that outlets go easy for fear of losing access etc. That way they can claim there is no suppression of the press. There are some things they are good at, sadly just none that the ordinary citizens of a functioning democracy have any use for.

Nah

Temu will just up it's emaills offering you stuff you don't want at low prices so you buy anyway from a 100 a day to 1000 a day to cover lost US sales ;-)

The Supremes just declared his ban on the AP as unconstitutional!!!

Maybe that will give some of them a spine, or some balls?!

Of course, being in the room is one thing. Getting to ask a question is a separate thing altogether! :-/

Have his supporters on here finally come to their senses? If so, welcome.

Must admit I hadn't realised that had got that far, good on them if it's been upheld. As you say there's more than one way for them to deny meaningful access but retaining some basic level of confidence in the judiciary is going to be crucial in the coming times.

I thought that, and also that they'll come up with another way of excluding them.

KEI cars are born out of that issue - crowded populated areas around the edges of a mountainous land mass. The rules have and may still include a requirement to show you have a place to park a motor vehicle that fits the dimensions and you can't even own one if you don't so even the desire and means to buy a Ford F150 truck will never be fulfilled

significant move I'll wait for the verdict from Martha Reeves and the Vandellas before coming to a conclusion lol
