Fair play to him getting called up for England although Jordan Henderson still gets called up to the squad.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good player, I just don't think he's good enough to be fighting for the prizes that we want to be going to win.

No doubt Forest are having a good season and all credit to them the table doesn't lie, Although it needs to be addressed that numerous teams are having really poor seasons which us us included.

I don't think he's in anyway shape or form a De Jong type player, He's not thar aggressive in challenges, He works really hard and takes one for the team now and again regarding a booking for a cynical foul. He's a number 10 that likes to play in behind Wood and arrive late in the box that's what way I'd describe him.

Each to their own, If he does join I obviously hope he does well but I can't see it, I hope you're indeed correct with the assessment.

Fair points well made. I do think he'd be a decent addition though. We tend to get very dismissive of un-sexy names on here, but like some bands..."the sum of the whole"......and all that.

I'll hold my hands up I was in the bracket that wanted us to sigh Kalvin Phillips and Matheus Nunes...

Didn't go exactly to plan :)

No doubt the starting bid for Gibbs White would be in excess of £80m? If Forest do get Champions League football they could play proper hard ball for clubs that want their player.
 
If I'm being positive, I feel he could be a James Milner type signing for us.

Obviously Wirtz we'd hope would be more of a KDB type signing.
 
Be happy to sign him.. but not happy if it's instead if Wirtz, who in my opinion, is the best attacking midfielder in Europe right now.
It's the drop off from our main targets to our back ups thats part of the reason we've drastically fallen off from previous levels. From bidding for Rice to ending up with "to dumb to play midfield" Nunes for example.
We dont need a like for like Kev replacement but we absolutely need a game changing creative one. Gibbs-White isn't that(25th in league), think he'd be more suited in our old 6(Dinho) and 2 creatives in front(Kev and Dave) Rather than the lone creator in front of 2 Dms.

We need to refresh the whole midfield
If gundo, kovacic, kdb, nunes, mcatee, grealish and bernado leave that’s a fair few midfielders
We would probably need another three in
Gibbs white as one of three would be good
We need pace and assists in our midfield and he has both
 
Morgan Gibbs White…wow….is this how far the level of targets has fallen. Shopping in Aldi but paying Harrods prices. Would probably turn out a lot better than Phillips and Nunes but still nowhere near the level we should be looking at.

Depends on what level he`s here to play at?
 
I mean, he is pretty much the key attacking player of a team above us in the league, so I'm not sure we should be snobby about the links.

For me there is little doubt he'd improve our current team. Whether he'd improve it enough to justify the fee is another question.

I don't think any of those players were considered as good as they turned out before they signed.

I also think people always struggle with buying English players and PL players and doubly if they’re both.

IMO It’s pretty common for people to make opposition players or players competing with City players for England into pantomime villains and then have to do a 180 as it becomes clear we’re signing them - I’ve definitely done before.

I can’t remember the last time we signed or were linked with an English player and half the fans didn’t hate the idea. Whether that’s Delph, Walker, Stones, Sterling, Philips or Gibbs White.
 
Think he's a good player, but for the level we're looking to be at he really should be a squad player looking to prove himself. Him with the addition of a superstar 10? Yes. Him and just him? Absolutely not. I guess they will say there's nothing out there available, everyone is available its just whether you are willing to pay.
 
He's very well respected in his home town of Stafford.
At the leisure centre there's a plaque listing the swimmers of the year. For one year, there's a random entry showing "Morgan Gibbs White (Footballer)".
