President Trump

Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY is losing here. So why is no fucker stopping him?Are discussions taking place between the military? the secret services? "decent" republicans? His billionaire backers? I'm struggling to understand this lack of action. Americans are being hit where it hurts them most, in their pockets, and still it goes on

I think during his first term there was a statistic that about 40% of white protestants believed he was anointed by God, I assume the number has since gone up.

Personally, I think Tracy Chapman probably had it worked out better...

All fair enough but I can't agree that the Americans think that they won WW11 on their own, we haven't even got to WW3 proper yet ffs.
 
What scares me is me. Here I am hoping and praying for Trump to do something else nonesensical but this time the market recovers as a result. And as soon as it does I sell all my American tech stocks. But won't everyone else want to do the same? So the likelihood is that as long as Trump and Vance continue in office any hope I had of a nest egg is fantasy.

Some of the folk I work with genuinely believe he's deliberately crashing the markets to build back the economy on stronger foundations. I believe this is nonsense, and he's just running his own personal pump-and-dump scheme using the US economy.

Either way, poor to middle income are going to be huge losers, certainly over the next 10 to 20 years unless this gets tuned around quickly.

The answer to that is look at the people he's surrounded by. Pretty much all of them are Trump loyalists and fanatics. They've been on board with the lying and BS for years and many have done pretty well for themselves on the back of it. They all make money from the grift and from going on fox news. They will not be suffering.

Over the years many have broken ranks and called him out and they all get cutt off. Their careers in alt right politics ends over night. A small number make it on the media circuit as being ex Trump people. But most just disappear.

So don't expect any of them to find some decency anytime soon.

However, as the pressure builds their will be cracks in the Trump camp. They will fall out amongst themselves on what is the best way forward. Those that don't get their way will start leaking dirt on those that did. Trump's 1st term was defined by constant leaking of internal rows.
 
A 3rd IRS head (Melanie Krause) since Trump's inauguration is expected to resign by the end of April, as Bessent and Noem have been making agreements on releasing undocumented migrant tax records to the DHS without involving the IRS agency head herself.

The IRS have taxed them and not passed on details, indeed assuring them that they wouldn't do so.
Now Bessent/Noem want their names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. I wonder how many accidents there will be in the sweep. I can guess at how much regret there will be.

IRS lawyers are reported to have advised that the Bessent/Noem agreement breaches privacy laws.

Oh and how did Krause find out about the agreement? It was released to Fox News by the Treasury, and she heard via Fox.

I get that they're illegally in the country, but undocumented migrants have generally quietly gone about their business, paying taxes along the way, taking ZERO from the government in the process. They are net contributors to the economy by a long way.

To breach basic privacy laws in such a flagrant manner is indicative of this administration's lack of respect for the rule of law overall. They know there will be little or no pushback from the SC, and that it's only really a matter of time before the whole rule of law becomes very dictatorial.

If and when the dust settles on this period of history, I wonder just how many of those currently in positions of power and influence will be standing up in court and claiming, 'I was just following orders'?

Pardons all round, pre-emptive probably.

But yes, it seems likely to have pretty major effects, although watching anyone try to deport millions of people might be gripping (until the first shots are fired).

It’s a personality cult based on one man. Without him it will splinter into factions and it will all be over. There might be some mayhem for a short period but compared to crashing the world economy and supporting Russia it will be insignificant.

That's from the last congress I think. Do you think he's ever had the curiosity to wonder what the word 'Representative' in his title means? Oh hang on, he's still under investigation for using campaign funds for personal use, so no I doubt he ever has.

To your point, in some ways people like him are arguably the most appalling because he knows exactly who Trump is but is happy to facilitate him for his own survival/benefit.
