The Squad planning thread

Don't be too surprised to see City go after the domestic market this summer.

PSR will open up opportunities and perhaps more realistic valuations, as opposed to the continent.

Morgan Gibbs-White, Wharton, Branthwaite, Delap, Rodgers, etc.
Hope not

Besides Branthwaite I wouldnt have any of them really....

Where would Rodgers play for instance...it would have to be wide right as he aint replacing Haaland

Gibbs White isnt technically good enough
Wharton - needs to show more than one season before taking what would be a huge financial risk

Our record of buying from other prem teams recently is very poor. Nunes being one, Grealish another and obviously Phillips. We use to be good at it...Lescott was a success and Sterling brilliant for us as well as obviously Walker being outstanding

Few people mentioning delap.
If we are goi g for a back up striker, I'd rather some one like Jonathan david who is on a free transfer and more proven than delap, although not in the PL
Yeah no point in Delap....we need an ALvarez type forward if we are going for someone - though we have Marmoush.

We need wide playes who can contribute goals and midfielders as well - eg Sane/Sterling...and a KDB type player.

Plus Stones, Milner and Barry...

people need to remember we can only pick 20 players a PL game, that's 5 at least not even making the bench in a game week (as well as all the kids we wanna see etc)

How the address this will be fascinating for nerds like me, you can see why they target lads who can do a few roles/positions to cut numbers.

There's always the physio bench the 5 can sit on

Enrique believes in possession based football, PSG are just loads quicker at getting the ball up top. We used to play like that in Pep’s first few seasons and now he’s obsessed with total control. We rarely hit teams on the counter due to the worry of turning the game into a basketball match. Would like to see a slight change in tactics, if not then that’s fair enough as long as we see an improvement next season.

Yeah we have a tired team after 4/6 years of none stop football! Pep likes the slow passing possession football then speed it up when there is an opportunity but even that's not happening!

yes two of those 3 were fantastic
Milner - he always tried hard and worked incredibly hard on the pitch but he was limited

Good squad player Milner though - played a few different roles and always gave his all. Okay, signing a modern-day Milner might not excite us, but would definitely be useful. Reliable I guess would be the word. And having reliable players might help one or two more to shine.

Whatever you think of others we bought basing what league we buy from on those players would be daft.Besides at the end of the day I will still always put the clubs judgement well above anybody on bluemoon.

The irony of course being that it is the clubs judgement since the treble that has meant we are now in desperate need of a major rebuild.

No irony, the clubs judgement led to a treble, 4 in a row, 6 out of 7 PL s, centurions, domestic grand slam, yet one poor season when the players that delivered that reach a wall, and all of a sudden people don't trust the clubs transfer judgement, some don't trust the manager. Knee jerk ,short sighted nonsense. The lack of perspective of some is astounding.

We’re useless at counters, purely down to Pep wanting full control.

Yep he wants the slow build up and then in the final third it's up to the players to move of the ball and quicker passing!

Pep when we were losing games he said we need to get back to that type of play and said in so many words many think when going through bad times change the way you play it wrong we need to play better at what we did before!

I'll be shocked next season we don't play the same possession football but with the newer fresher players we will press better play quicker I'd expect..

You're right it's completely knee jerk.

In fact midfield hasn't been an issue this season and the signings of Kovacic, Nunes and Gundogan have been a resounding success. In fact people looking at getting rid of any of these 3 are very short sighted as clearly the club has a long term vision.

we already have enough squad players....Doku, Grealish, Rico, Nunes (and even if two of those leave (Grealish and Nunes being the most likely) we need to buy quality in....we have seen what has happened by buying average players (especially in midfield - Nunes, Phillips being big mistakes)

When you are losing thelikes of KDB, Gundo, who are world class players you have to replace them with world class players....if not the obvious happens and looking at the list of names being thrown around (Gibbs White, Delap and a few others) that is what will happen if they come to fruition.

yes cause its worked mostly brilliantly over the last 9 years.....We dont need to become a counter attacking team - Pep is never ever going to play like that and why would he when he is the most successful manager in the world...its not like counter attacking is a new way of playing and its not something he needs to try or not come up against before

Our sole issue this year is that our midfield and back line has not been able to cope with the teams that play like this....previously we were able to cope with them but our players have aged and cannt do it anymore

So you think we should base the transfers this summer on a bluemoon poll, not trust the club. Right, good plan.

No, I think some on here need to wake up and see how piss poor the club has been the last 2 seasons at signing players.

It doesn't matter who is on the poll because if they are top quality but don't have a release clause we wont be able to sign them anyway.

So your answer is you don't trust the club that has delivered so much. Up to you but I do and can't wait to see what the next chapter brings. Sit back, enjoy.
