Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

Some people say times have changed and that's the way it is now, I say they shouldn't have changed and it's still the way it should be.

It was cheap and it could be done spontaneously. I've no idea what kids get these days for pocket money but I doubt it's £40 a week. Then they can't buy a ticket unless they have a membership. They'd have to have a credit card to buy anything in the ground. It's just a shit load of hassle.

Kids get probably more money now but it's all sunk into phones and mcdonalds etc..the biggest problem is the electronic payments as well as you say the costs and the spontaneity side of it.

Now all they get to do is wear a shirt say their a fan because their dad/mam is/was one at one time. The clubs don't want a load of youngsters going together they don't spend enough.

United fans getting the same treatment. Being forced to move to make way for a new hospitality section next to the dugout.

Yes, you did hear it right in the report. The 'Merseyside derby'. BBC North West are fucking useless.

We have the republic of mancunia cockney cunts and the scouse rag match being called a derby.

They really are doing football wrong :)

100%. I said this when it all came in, got laughed at on here by some. They made it as awkward and costly to buy a ticket as they possibly could. Maybe earnt them a few quid straight off, but has potentially lost us A generation of fans already.

We had two 10 year olds in the family who were mad about going to games. 6 of the extended family would go maybe 9/10 times a year (early rounds of the cup/few league and early CL) up to a few years ago. Now at nearly 12 their out of the habit of going and so dont (due to having to buy a membership and then the high price of tickets). Out of the 6, i now go on my own, occasionally when a mate gives me their ticket. I know were not the type of fans that spend £100’s in the club shop every time we go, but surely alienating a significant chunk of the local fan base is not a sensible long term strategy!!
That's so true what you say about people getting out of the habit. I don't know how any member or non member (who isn't a season card holder) is attending at least 10 games. Itd cost them £700. Our family of 4 attending just 5 games a season night be looking at £1000+. There's love for your team but people have financial limits. £700 could get them a ticket in that new stand. The club are barking on that seat raking in at least double that. Sickening.

small slip up when they're the ones highlighting this issue and giving that fan a voice.

The old chap was bang on when he said - " I've been loyal to them(united) but they haven't been loyal to me".

Loyalty should be a two way thing and loyal supporters should be first priority by our club owners( and all club owners) but it's evident that they care less and less about our core fans each season.

Now is the time to show your discontent about how the club are treating you and fellow blues, stand up and protest together, it's the only way to get prices reduced, not just frozen! Don't turn a blind eye with an "I'm alright jack" attitude because you can afford your SC and match tickets at the moment. If that's the case fair enough but can you afford to go in future seasons? Think about it because the club don't want season ticket holders, they don't even need or want your loyalty but things will change, especially when we're no longer competing for trophies.

I had a SC for years but I decided to become a full time carer for my elderly mother so gave it up end of 21 season. I didn't have the time nor could I afford it when I started receiving carers allowance. Since she passed away in 22 I've been going to games when I can, usually when my mate lets me have his SC for a game or when I've got cheap tickets off here. Thing is I've got out of the habit of going to live games nowadays and I'm OK about it because I can watch every game on UK TV or on foreign streams on my FireStick.

When I watch on TV I don't worry about not being able to park on Clayton Lane, I dont have to worry about being crammed on a tram, I don't have to worry about why VAR has ruled out a goal because they don't replay and controversial incidents on the stadium screens. I'm ambivalent on how I feel about not going all home and some away games anymore but I'm definitely not as passionate about City as I was. I felt valued by the club for years until recent seasons, now I know my loyalty to City means fuck all to the club and that saddens me.

And the sad fact is - the more successful we have become the more greedy our avaricious owners have become in annual price increases. Khaldoon Al Muberak said local fans matter at the end of his two part end of season speech last year. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say at the end of this season when he speaks to Chris Bailey again.

I'm not holding my breath because he and Sheikh Mansoor have both lived an affluent life since birth. They simply have no idea what it's like to struggle to afford attend games at the expense of not eating properly or being able to afford to heat their house, or be on the breadline. They are so out of touch with reality(our reality) it's worrying.

Don't be appeased and don't be satisfied by a begruged olive branch price freeze offering. No. Stand up, speak up and take action on being taken for granted as a mug 'customer'. Keep protesting your dissatisfaction till the club listen and take action. But more importantly, value you and treat you with respect as a loyal supporter...

Loads of tickets going for peanuts but some other posters will say you can’t expect fans to use the face value pages. Strange how thousands of Blues have been doing just that for donkeys.
True, but it's worrying that face value pages are easy picking for the ticket compliance dude. I'd give priority to closing true unofficial touting sites, but he could opt for a few quick wins.

Mate of mine went on a Stag Do to Barca last weekend.
Decided last minute to go and watch Barca v Betis.
£110 per ticket, 10 of them sat in a row. Ground full of tourists he ironically said.
TBF he got to see Eric Garcia come on as sub to play holding midfielder

I’ve spent the last 20 years of my life paying off credit cards to watch City, but with the way ticket prices have gone I've had to stop going to all the games with my lad. I simply can’t afford it anymore.

Great post mate

If it's any consolation, i quit my season ticket after 30 years, this season i've really not missed going - in fact i have turned down a couple free tickets! rather do something else or watch game indoors/pub.

A great post and you're absolutely right in saying once you get out of the habit of going you find you don't really miss it. The match day experience the suits all bang on about is actually getting better at home. No travel hassle and expense, cheap food and drink on tap and no queues for that or the toilet. You can swear and rant and nobody cares or complains. If the match is boring you can do something else and have it running in the background.

Now we've won everything it's easier to walk away. Before when we were starved of success we continued going out of some kind of stubborn blind loyalty that we might be crap but we're not giving up. Loyal supporters and all that, 34 years and we're still here and the club were grateful of that support.
Now we've won the lot, many trophies countless times. Our years of desperate yearnings to see some success before we died has been sated.
Personally I could walk away now and not miss going to live games anymore. For the youngsters coming through they have to keep fighting to have that privilege.

Cheers Chappo.

I was going to go to the pub tomorrow to watch the game but my mate offered me his SC so I'll go to the game. I'll go on my bike from Stalybridge mostly along the canal. I'll stop off at the Fleece in town centre for a full English brekkie then tootle along the cut to the Etihad. Watch the game then ride to the Strawberry Duck for a beer or two, then ride home. I won't spend a penny in the stadium or anything on overpriced tat from the club shop. No wonder the club don't want cheapskate bastards like me : )

Come on City!

Ha ha that's it exactly. How far is the Strawberry Duck from the stadium? Somebody I know is doing a Blondie tribute act there in May.
