What is our strongest XI when everyone is fit?

For me, the likes of Foden, Grealish, Akanji don't make a strongest 11 right now. I haven't been impressed with any of them this season.
Akanji played with injury apparently. Why haven't we seen Grealish in a No. 10 role infront of Nico and Kovacic/O'Reilly?

Pep has not been very innovative this season

Realistically it will be different for different matches.
You also have to figure out whether declines in form are permanent or temporary.
I would give benefit of the doubt to Foden and Akanji but not to Gundog/Kev, unsure about Bernardo.

My first choice 11 would be similar to the first post but I would maybe stick in Savinho who I think has shown immense promise and omit Grealish who has been patchy for two seasons now.

One thing that this exercise emphasises to me is the lack of depth in our squad. In the past his kind of idea would throw up a myriad of possibilities and a really strong bench full of game changers. Now the first team if fully fit would probably be pretty decent but the bench would not be strong and cover would be weak.

The backs if fully fit would have decent cover at centre back with Ake , Khus and possibly Reiss . not much at full back maybe O'Reilly and you're relying on your gamechangers being the likes of Bobb, Berrnardo Doku and whoever you didn't choose out of Savio Grealish etc. Not much that you'd trust in centre midfield.

The Foden of last year would walk into this team and as a measure of how far we've fallen he's still one of our top scorers.

It's interesting that nobody seems to be including Doku and even Grealish at his best just flatters to deceive and doesn't contribute enough when it really matters

On current form we haven't really got a strongest first eleven, even if they're all fit. We're a top six side at best, although yes Rodri and Haaland fit should have us top four.
You're talking about 2 of the top 5 or 6 players in the world. If they are FULLY fit, they elevate us to places only top top players can.

Add to that a fit John Stones and we're still the best team in the league.

Not sure the best team in the league, but rven with them fully fit we are not close to being the best team in the world anymore. Need a top winger, midfielder and 2 full backs to get close again and probably even a really good goalkeeper.

No, we're sadly lacking in other areas. Those three fully fit definitely improve us but as for being the best team we're still not strong enough even with them.

Ederson

Akanji Stones Dias Gvardiol

Nico Rodri

Foden Marmoush Savio

Big lad

To me that's a title-challenging XI. Just a case of keeping them fit and supplementing them with high quality back-ups, particularly in midfield.

Everyone seems to be putting Gonzalez in which surprises me. We've only seen him play a handful of times. I'd say Gundogan and Kovacic or Grealish if he was allowed in the middle would be ahead of him.

Savinho and Marmoush's first seasons. Haaland has been playing in front of a dysfunctional midfield. Bobb has played 5 minutes since his leg break
Is that our strongest front 4 then?

There's A LOT of emphasis on Bobb, and let's be honest he's got it all to prove consistently at the top level, no doubting his potential, but that goes for Savinho as well.

We are down to the bare bones in terms of guaranteed consistent quality in our front 4.

I don’t think there’s a definitive answer for this.

Who do you choose from fully fit Gvardiol Stones Aké and Dias? It’s a toss of the coin.

Then from struggling to choose the best of a great bunch at the back, you’re struggling to find proper creativity in a prime player in the final third from any player. Again, it’s a toss of the coin.

The only players definitely assured of their places in the team are Ederson, Rodri and Haaland.
