US Tariff War

right now they are talking shite to convince themselves they are right - its a bigger Brexit

You very much miss the point. Fox News is all about two things:

1) Making money and;
2) Advancing a conservative agenda

Fox personalities aren't "taking shite" to "convince themselves."

Fox anchors/hosts/personalities aren't stupid - they know that Trump is a nincompoop and that his policies are shit. But they want to keep their jobs - and even if Trump is an incompetent idiot, he's at least advancing most of the conservative policies that they endorse.

No... Fox hosts are "talking shite" to convice their viewers - the hosts themselves know full well that they are going along with the big lie.

By the way...

Do you know the difference between "its" and "it's"?

Was talking to someone who exports to the US. What he’s worried about most is the efficiency of US customs in dealing with all the new tariffs. He reckons a shit load of stuff will end up in warehouses with tariffs unpaid leading to overall trade almost grinding to a halt due to the backlog. More chaos awaits until the orange idiot backtracks further.

This was what caused most of the inflation post covid. The global supply and logistics sector was in a mess and it took years to sort out.

Trump is in danger of causing significant harm down the line if businesses stop shipping goods. It will take months to hit then more months to unwind the problem. Supply drops and inevitably prices rise (even without the tariff).

May I raise you "Never start a land war in Asia"?
That's got be Sun Tzu too, surely!
When my kids were a little younger we had a "Family Rules" whiteboard in the house with things like "You can do hard things" and "Speak with your teacher with you are confused; don't sit and suffer in silence" but at the top of the list was "Never start a land war in Asia". :)

So far so good on Asia.

One of them has been pretty much always been spot-on with them; the other had a few more issues with self-advocacy but has improved a lot in college.

Totally OT, but what I'm amazed by is how drinking/drugs that were such a part of my youth have been completely absent from their lives. They might have a jar or an edible once in awhile, but both are in relationships with people who don't drink or party at all and best I can tell neither do they.

"look what became of Dad, let's not do that"?!

I’m confused after reading the second rule ;)

"Do you want to end up like ME?"

That said, my oldest believes I am "the best 60-something MarioKart player on the planet." A) I doubt that's true; B) I'm not 60 yet; and C) I still enjoy kicking both kid's asses (arses) and their friends at said game :).

Larry Fink, the chief executive of investment firm Blackrock, has warned the US is "very close, if not in a recession now".

Fink, who is worth an estimated $1.2bn, told our US partner network CNBC he believes "a lot of people are buying in advance of elevated [price] increases, like lines around Apple stores, buying iPhones, all that stuff".

Criticising Trump's tariffs, he added: "The United States, post-WWII was a global stabiliser. We are [now] a global destabiliser...

"This is not a pandemic, this is not a financial crisis, this is something that we've created."

Briefing that they told China that they should request a phone call to negotiate.

Why don't they pick up the phone themselves. Cunts.

Its all about face saving ............ when it claimed earlier in the week Trump "blinked" the reaction to them being perceived that way shook them to the core
