O'Reilly is already ahead of Ake imo. City have Gvardiol, Dias and Akanji in central defence with Khusanov and Reis in development. Stones may recover. Bernardo is in decline, Echeverri is an unknown and Foden has had a poor season. There are 2 obvious holes left by Walker and KDB.
It's a shame, i rate Ake highly & think we're a better side when he's playing but he's just too injury prone to be able to rely on him.

Stones has to go too. No way can we afford to keep him. Loved him as well as anybody else in this current squad but sentiment has created this season.

He has to go. Simply not been good enough for over a year now. It was a lovely reminder on Saturday that the talent will always be there, but it's also been very sad to watch him lumbering through games and not completing passes he would usually make with his eyes closed.

The injuries will continue, the recovery rate will only get worse, simply down to age.

I'm sure it was painful for Pep to tell him, just like Sergio, but the break needs to be made, otherwise we will see a Fernandinho type fall-off.

People can't demand Pep comes up with creating a new team, without saying goodbye to the last of those who gave us so much.

I'm just gonna enjoy these last three games I get to see him live (hopefully four at Cup Final)
Totally agree here. Its great when we see Kev when he just grabs a game by the throat and orchestrates everything. It's what we have been used. Not seen that Kev since probably the Madrid Semi finals in the treble season. He brings other players with him, Gundo went up a notch on Saturday too. Kev going will free up wages that can probably cover 2.5 players. With the obvious Walker going and I also think Ake, Stones, Grealish and maybe Bernie going - we will have made some good room on the wages.

Lets hope Kev goes out with a bang and a trophy to go.

I'd be getting rid of Akanji, Stones and Ake.

If Josko is finally now recognised as a centre back, he would have Khusanov, Dias, Bah and Reis to supplement.

Love Ake and Stones, but contracts are almost up and might be last chance to cash in, as they will defo want to go to World Cup next year.

As for Akanji, I've never trusted him and never will. He just has too many lapses in concentration and was a decent pick up for £14m.

On another day, he would have been responsible for City losing the Champions League final and not winning away at Spurs last season.

I'd also say Ruben needs to buck up.

We need to keep Josko at CB and sign a proper LB!

I'll be shocked if stones Ake Akanji go this summer can see Akanji staying because he can play right back and Bah be loaned out again next season maybe Reis to unless he stays to make numbers up for the cup games

Bah was promised he can come in this summer, as part of the agreement.

I think you will probably be right, and those three will stick around unless offers do come in.

Stones is the shock I am expecting.

Decision is made. Time is right I guess, he put astonishing records in numerous EPL-tables, we won everything with him in our team.
That amount of silverware is great, but I will miss him the most as an artist and they way he grabbed the game by the neck.
He was asked a few years ago why he kept going for 5-6 goals, and if this was not humiliating for opponent teams. His answer:"It is more respectful if we keep on going, it's disrespectful/arrogant if we don't"

It would be a shock but I actually wonder if it would be good for his career - he seems to do ok defending deeper for England so he might thrive in another premier league team

We had to be patient with Vinny for a couple of seasons. Same with Stones and Ake. Too good not to give them the time they need.

I could see Everton and Moyes bringing him in to a conversation if we do move for Branthwaite.
The connection is definitely there and Moyes does like to work with what he knows, I just wonder if Branthwaite would be a centre half too far - with Dias and Gvardiol as first choice & Khusanov, Bah & Reis it runs the risk of overloading that position

And it’s right to be fair, if we don’t lose the sentimentality we’ll keep Kev, Stones and Ake and be in the same situation next season.
Kev has always had periods out due to injuries almost every season.
It’s unfortunate but we can’t keep paying £350k per week to someone only available half a season regardless of how good he is.
I imagine we all felt the same when it came to Aguero, Silva, Toure and Hart etc.

In the long run it's probably the correct move.
