People still don't seem to realise these are teams who quite literally drop points more often than they win.

Brighton were considered to be still in it up until they dropped points v Leicester last weekend and they have dropped points in 64% of their games this season. Basically two in every three games. Teams in these positions are pissing points away on a weekly basis, in a way that we are just not used to.

Any weekend between now and the end of the season, we should be looking at the fixtures for Chelsea, Newcastle, Forest and Villa - and saying with good certainty that 2 of those 4 are going to drop points. On that basis, 7 points from 15 probably does it.

Statistically you are probably right but I want City to win the next five and finish third, oh and win the cup :-)
 
Villa remind me of Palace, don’t laugh! Pacey forwards and physically strong. Before they got the deck chairs out, Palace had only conceded 35 goals, one of the best defensive records in the league. Villa have good forwards but give you a chance. Winning at Everton is a great result today as since Moyes came back they’ve hardly lost especially at home.
Let’s not build Villa up to be peak Barcelona they’re not. City!

We're up near 50% (P33, D7, L9). Not great.
 
I'm not sure if the Villa v Newcastle result is good for us or bad for us ?

It gives us a better chance of getting above Newcastle, but 5 wins on the trot for Villa (maybe due to drop points ?), could do with Fulham taking something tomorrow either way, and spurs on Monday night.

I think the difference is that for us that is the lowest it's been for years. The rest of the teams in this race don't know what performing above this level consistently even looks like. The mentality is fundamentally different - it's the difference between "we're on a good run" versus "this is the minimum standard we expect".

I'll never be able to understand how someone growing up in a soccer mad, two club city can be a boyhood fan of one of the clubs but then switch allegiance when they grow up. You pick your team as a young brat, and you stick with them.

Yes; I know. I used to be a Chelsea fan, but now support City. That's different. They're from two different cities. I would never switch to the rags. Though there were times during the 90s when I was tempted.

I bet Sky are raging they didn’t have the rags on as one of the games today so they could get into a frenzy over the greatest comeback in the world on Thursday night..
