They're very well suited to exploit our weaknesses, they attack quickly and directly, that will cause us a lot of problems. Their main weakness lies in their high line but you can be almost certain we won't look to exploit that even once which means playing into their hands and trying to best them. Not a team I'm looking forward to playing. Rashford is almost guaranteed to be a problem for us. A game we have to win though. Beat them and a 4 point cushion with 4 games remaining should be enough to ensure we finish above them.

It's tempting to say Akanji and khusanov to come in and flood the back 4 with as much pace as possible but not sure changing the back 4 that much is wise. Personally I'd bring in akanji if he's fully fit for O'Reilly, nothing against him but the experience will be key here and they will 100% target the ball behind O'Reilly if he starts.

Assuming no more injuries and no other players returning

Ortega
Nunes
Akanji
Dias
Gvardiol
Kovacic
Gonzalez
Gundogan
Kdb
Doku
Marmoush
That's my team.

Ortega, Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O'reilly, Kovacic, Gonzalez, Foden, De Bruyne, Doku, Marmoush

Subs: Carson, Lewis, Akanji, Gundogan, Mcatee, Grealish, Silva, Savinho, Khusanov

Amazed at the amount of people who are picking Nunes at rb because he has been "alright" recently when we have a multi million pound , fast as fuck actual defender available. Khushanov at RB for me until the end of the season to get him 100% comfortable with Peps demands of that position as its the only place he will get a game next season when all CB are available.

The amount of people not picking him on their expected team is simple.
Pep is not picking Khusanov.

Same as yesterday other then I’d go Doku for Savio, possibly Kova for Gundo. I’d like Jack in there but that’s not happening

Be very surpised if Akanji isn’t straight back in. I can see it at cb as pep likes him to push in to midfield but I’d be loathe to disrupt dias and Gvardiol right now.
Better right back for akanji
On Saturday Nunes looked fairly comfortable for most of the game , but Villa will be more of a threat and I would go with Akanji at rb.

You never know with us. I thought we would struggle against Newcastle but we dicked em.

A draw would be fine though.

I don't think we can risk draws at this late stage of the season, and with the competition around us for a Champions League place being so fierce .... we really need to be busting a gut to build on the Everton result and keep this run going ..... every single point gained could be absolutely vital at the end of the season in this 'dogfight' to get into Europe next season.

They have had a lot of big games recently and have done really well apart from when they got beat in the away leg at PSG. They got outplayed that night though, and I've no doubt that the City of a season or two ago would wipe the floor with them. We need a high tempo up and at em performance, get them under pressure from the off because they couldn't cope with that in Paris.

This game is complicated by the short turn around.

I apuld go back to the Pslace lineup qith a few changes

Ortega

Nunes
Dias
Gvardiol
O'Reilly

Gonzalez
Kovacic
Grealish
Debryune

Mcatee
Marmoush.

I put Jack in coz I don't have anyone else that i trust with control in midfield. And i don't want to start Gundo 2ice in 4 days. Beenie is an Easy bench coz i want that Palace team or as close to it as possible.

MY thinking here is i want to get the best out of as many players as possible.

i want O'Reilly to own the line going back and forth.
Jack plays the Gundogan role (left central midfielders). Ball control and feeding O'Reilly outside.

Same with Kova and Nunes on the right.

Kev doing his best flashback Marmoush and McAfee making cutting runs

Ortega

Akanji Dias Gvardiol
Nunes Nico Kovacic O'Reilly
KDB
Savinho/Foden/McAtee Marmoush

Allows Nunes & O'Reilly to bomb forward but provides additional midfield numbers & stability at the back. Will he pick it? No. Will I suggest it each game? Damn right
Mcatee Marmoush as the roving 2 ahead of Kev.

Thats the team i can leave with.

Both teams will have half an eye on the semi and will be happy with an energy conserving pretty dull draw

good point. As City and Villa are at similar level and going toe to toe in both PL and FA, I don’t fancy City d dispatch Villa in both competition. I would happily take it if City get CL and Villa get FA cup.
