US Tariff War

Back on tariffs. I walked around our locals shopping area last night and took note or the number of goods potentially supplied by China. Claire's Accessories shop (a mall/medium sized chain with shops up and down the country) stood out particularly.

Having done a quick search this morning, they import up to 60% of their goods from China, and they aren't alone. Thousands of other businesses and sole traders buy from China. Worse than that, big businesses buy from China. Amazon, 25%, Walmart, 60%, Home Depot, 30%.

Big businesses can suck it up to a degree, at least for a while. Smaller retailers are on such fine margins that they maybe have a month or two flex before they have to shutter the business.

They are going to tank the economy.

I've got a 2 door Ford bronco, and it's brilliant for rural living. Half the price of a defender. Not to say Trump's policies aren't a disaster for exports and people don't need a reason to not buy inferior cars.

Just a day or two before Trump declares victory and announces that dozens of countries have come crawling for trade deals. Meanwhile US stocks are down 20% and the rest of the world are actively looking for alternatives to US products.

If Trump actually had a brain he’d be a lot more dangerous than he already is
 
Thank fuck the Ford F150 pick up is already on order. No wait it won't fit on the driveway I'll park on the street but its a narrow cul-de-sac so I will block the road for emergency and service vehicles oh further thought I DON'T FUCKING WANT ONE they have not been known as Yank Tanks here for a reason

Easy win for the UK. We show Trump we’re tariffs, so he’s “winning”, whilst it not affecting us as no one buys yank cars.

We should do it on squirty cheese too.
