Nunes isn't my pick but 13 G/A for a player being shunted aots isn't to be sniffed at - also Josko's made just as many mistakes that's cost us this season.

Has to be Haaland for me.

We might not be spoiled for choice this year but Haaland scoring over 20 PL goals again and some pick Nunes is quite something.

Or perhaps I read the "player of the season" as the player being the most important for what we did, not the usual dullard thought of just repeating who scored the most goals.

I don't think we get CL without Nunes however unpalatable that may seem.

You forget that Haaland is really just doing his job. Woopdeedo.

I agree your post. Nunes has had to take a lot of stick. Always felt slightly more confident when Kova in the team.

Nico O for young POTS.
 
I've found myself being more in the Nunes camp as the season has progressed.

A generally unpopular player with fans, played out of his normal position, criticised by Pep for not being good enough to play in his normal position, forced into playing full back, ends up playing better than any other RB this season and scores one of our most important goals of the season.

The lad has reinvented himself, and has impressed me more every game.

1. Nunes
2. Kovacic
3. Gvardiol

Young player - Easy... Nico O'Reilly.

The rest... bang average at best this season.

Regarding Young POTY,
I think it's going to be hard to look past Nico but the importance of both his and Kushs impact at the low point of the season can't be underestimated.

Kush gave Pep and the back line a vital and perfectly timed boost for the month he played. It's hard to see a more important contribution to the team than his was even though it was short.
He was a crucial reinforcement when the line was close to breaking.

Kush, Nico and Nunes may not have had the minutes or have the cache' of the star players but without them we'd be absolutely adrift.

Pep said it himself how important they have been.

Had the conversation with my lad a week ago and we went for Rodri on the grounds he's got better every week he hasn't played, which isn't bad for a Balon d'Or winner. All those people who couldn't understand why he won it need to just look at us this season.

I just hope the injury hasn't affected him as the midfield is desperate for him and, if he's fit, I think we've got a chance in the CWC
