Rumours of Ederson going to the rags as wellWharton is a serious young player.
There are many great players whom we have made look average, or worse.
Rumours today of Ederson coming our way mean that I am not sure that we would have room for him, unless another central player goes.

Think considering his limited minutes so far Gonzales has done very well in the games he has played...looked really solid and shored up the midfield who were absolutely awful before he arrived.I hope you are correct but I’ve not seen anything as yet to suggest that. Hopefully next season he will display his full range of talents.

two of those options however are also fullback cover in OReilly and Rico( I know OReilly aint a fullback but he has done well enough to be considered as at least a cover player for that position even if we buy someone else which we will) -I ultimately dont think Rico is good enough in either position but we will have to see and I can see him being used to cover both positionsThere ISN'T room for the squad with him next season when you consider Pep sets us up with 2 midfielders who stay back primarily, and 2 midfielders who primarily attack (and join to make the 4 man attack), and Wharton is very much in the 2 who stay back mold.
For next season, the options are:
2 Back: Rodri, Nico, Kova, Bernie, + (O Reilly and Lewis as backups)
So for these 2 spots, we have 4 + kinda 2 options. Which is more than good enough. I'd say if one of Bernie and Kova leave, snap up Wharton immediately as he is the best option.
4 Attack: Haaland, Marmoush, Gundogan, Foden, Savinho, Doku, Bobb + (Mcatee if he stays and O Reilly)
Here we have for sure 7 options (since Gundogan is staying) + kinda 2 options again, unclear what's happening with McAtee.
This is where I think it makes sense to bring in Reijnders or Wirtz, since they replace KdB, but also future proof for Gundogan. This would give 8 clear options.
McAtee I reckon goes -probably to Germany as there are strong rumours Leverkusen want him.
We would also have to sell Nunes (who tbf has done well at fullback and has improved there but again ultimately aint good enough)
I think Bernardo stays as Pep loves him and I think he will see out his contract and out of all the older players he still has the legs
I know Gundo triggered his 1 year extension so he is definitely staying but he has to be considered more of a bit part player.....even though he is playing better these last few games he has still lost a lot of what made him a great player for us..it would be worrying if he int he starting 11 more often than not next season....wish he had gone the way of KDB tbh

There's room in the squad for Gonzales, Rodri, Wharton, Wirtz, O'Reilly, Foden in the midfield next season. We need to ensure that players aren't "overplayed". There will be a need for many of the existing squad to leave but that looks on the cards
100%. If we’ve learned anything from this season, it’s that the key positions must be covered adequately.

Probably come down to how they see Nico 6 with a bit of 8, or 8 with a bit of 6. If its the latter then they can move for this kid. The former unlikely I expect for this window.

Nico G has played as an 8 so he could play further up. We are looking at players like Wharton and Larsson is they can also play both positions.
