Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

Todays officiating was some of the worst I’ve seen, which luckily didn’t cost us, how can that possibly not be a penalty, shocking.
Clear pen as it slowed down the momentum of the ball and gave the keeper a better chance he made his body larger which is the criterion

Spot on,when I saw it I thought it’s a soft pen,but as you mention his hand slowed it down giving the keeper the chance to save it,if that was a city player it’s 100% given ..

I know a lot of us can be guilty of Blue Tinted glasses when it comes to these decisions but I swear, for the last 4 or 5 games we've had some really dodgy refereeing calls? Ever since that Spurs game away, some horrific decisions over recent games though, especially today. How that wasn't a penalty for handball and the worst bit was the wank fest of commentators today not saying a word about it

Some odd decisions today, none more so than game handball just before Josko powers it in.

Ok, we scored and it will be swept under the carpet, but I just don't understand the laws of the game if that isn't given and var is not stepping in, when it did the other day for a dubious and certainly non obvious penalty error involving Dias.

Intentionally or not, the Forest player's hand stopped the ball from going into an open net. I just don't see how there is any other decision after that. We can talk about natural and unnatural positions until we're blue in the face, but we had a shot on goal, it was on target, his hand stopped it from going in by both changing the speed and course of the shot. If Oliver isn't giving that then it's a clear and obvious error, but where was VAR? Checking if Dias had farted and Hudson-Odoi had to alter his run to avoid the whiff?

And don't get me started on the O'Reilly booking for not even committing a foul, I was sure he was going send him off with a second yellow for time wasting when we got a series of throw ins in injury time on the left of, was willing him to just boot it out for a goal kick.

We should have had a penalty, soft but his back arm was out from his body and stopped the ball crossing the line. How did Stefan get booked, did he do anything differently to what Martinez did against us last week. Nico getting booked was a joke as it wasn’t even a foul.
Sorry but if that’s a penalty then the game has gone . Where is he supposed to put his arm ?

According to the laws of the game it’s a pen Don’t tell me that there hasn’t been absolutely ridiculous handballs given the one against Jack at Wembley being just one example
The Forest player had his arm in an unnatural position but more importantly he slowed the ball
down and enabled the GK a better chance to save Clear and obvious error by Oliver yet no VAR intervention

Players put their hands behind their back when they're facing the ball.

He's side on, and obviously it's a quick movement, but the hand that touches the ball is a about a foot behind his back, making him a much bigger target. The final angle shown looks like he's moved it towards the ball, even if involuntarily (or maybe to try and get out of the way), but the result is that he's made himself much bigger, and it's had more of an impact than 99% of handballs usually do, as it's slowing a goal bound shot.
